The man sat up, towering over Shana, who was sleeping on the floor. The faint light from the streetlamp outside filtered in just enough to reveal Shana’s peaceful face, deep in slumber.
She appeared to be dreaming of something pleasant; her brows relaxed, and a faint smile curled her lips.
Henry’s hands clenched tightly, and the veins on his knuckles bulged. Who had he come all the way to this miserable, isolated place and endured this torment for?
That d*mn woman! She had truly stop caring about me!
Anger surged inside him, and he could no longer hold it back. He lifted his foot and kicked her blanket, saying coldly, “Get up!”
Shana, having returned to the safety of a familiar place, was half–conscious, unaware of his voice.
Seeing no reaction from her, Henry let out a bitter laugh. He got out of bed, grabbed Shana by the shoulders, and roughly shook her. “Shana, stop pretending to be asleep!”
Shana slowly opened her eyes. At first, she was dazed, but after a few seconds, when she saw his cold, expressionless face, a shiver ran through her body as her mind snapped into focus.
She was usually a bit grumpy when she woke up, but back then, she tolerated Henry out of love. Now she could barely hold back the urge to slap him.
“Henry, are you out of your mind?” Shana glared at him, not bothering to hide her displeasure.
Henry’s expression darkened even more, his thin lips curling into a harsh sneer. He demanded coldly, “I’m hungry. Make me something to eat.”
This time, he wasn’t looking for a fight. After a morning meeting, he’d rushed to catch a flight. He never cared for airplane food, so he didn’t eat it and he skipped dinner. All he’d had all day was the breakfast and a cup of tea.
Before, he had been too busy with work, often skipping meals and suffering from an upset stomach. After marrying Shana, she had gone out of her way to be the ideal wife, ensuring his meals were always on time and healthy.
When he was home, she’d sit with him at the table. At work, she would either bring him a home–cooked meal or send him regular reminders to eat through calls or texts.
Even if he ignored her, she would ask Larry to pass along the message. It was as if she was his personal caretaker.
-Over time, his meals had become more regular, and his stomach issues had eased. But now that old
discomfort returned, and the color drained from his lips.
In the dark, Shana didn’t notice his changé in color. She just thought his self–righteousness was ridiculous.
He wouldn’t eat when she called him for dinner, but now, hungry, he was ordering her around.
He was truly impossible!

“Mr. Floyd, if you’re hungry, just order takeout. You’ve got your phone, right? Don’t you know how to use a delivery app? Try being independent for once,” she said coldly, shoving him aside before retreating back into her warm bed.
Henry was infuriated by her attitude. If it had been in the past, she would have immediately noticed that he was unwell.
He placed his hand on his stomach and said, “Shana, I don’t eat takeout. Either you get up and make me something, or you can ask Grace to do it. Your choice.”
He didn’t wait for her reply and stood up, heading toward the door.
If he called Grace, it would definitely alert Audrey–Shana knew his tricks well.
Taking a deep breath, Shana sat up, glaring at Henry’s back. Gritting her teeth, she muttered, “I’ll make it for you.”
His hand was already on the doorknob, but he stopped and turned around, a smug grin spreading across his face.
Then he heard her voice again. “10,000 dollars per meal.”
Henry almost thought he had heard it wrong. He turned to face her, unable to control his sarcasm. “Shana, are you insane? Do you think your terrible cooking is worth that much?”
“Why not? Since you’re forcing me to cook, I get to set the price. 10,000 bucks. Should you not pay, I’ll order takeout. Consider it my kindness.”
Shana wasn’t joking–she grabbed her phone and opened the delivery app. She began scrolling through the menu to order the cheapest, messiest street food he detested.
A thin sheen of sweat was already covering Henry’s forehead. His patience was gone. Striding over, he snatched her phone away and tossed it onto the bed before grabbing her arm. “10,000 dollars it is. Let’s see what kind of gourmet meal you can make.”
After tinkering while in the kitchen, Shana walked back into the room, holding a plate of pasta and placing it in front of Henry.
He glanced at it; it was just a simple plate of pasta, boiled in hot water, nothing special.
Henry hadn’t expected her to make a fancy meal, but the lack of effort still made him laugh bitterly. With disgust, he pushed the plate away. He glared at Shana, who was sitting opposite him, and asked, “You couldn’t even add some chicken or some vegetables? Shana, where do you get the nerve to ask for that price?
“Are you planning to make your fortune by scamming me after the divorce?”
Shana was speechless.
Shana sighed inwardly, holding back a few retorts for the sake of the money. “Mr. Floyd, having some pasta is already a blessing. We saved this leftover pasta from dinner for the pigs tomorrow.”

Actually, she’d just made it, but who told him to run his mouth?
Henry couldn’t believe it. Not only was it not freshly made, but it was leftover food meant for pigs?
“Shana, you want me to eat pig food?”

He was the heir to the Floyd Group, the youngest billionaire on the Paragon list, always the center of attention. Who dared treat him like this?
Shana wasn’t flustered. She shrugged and said, “This is it. Take it or leave it. I don’t really need your money.”
With that, she stood up, picked up the plate, and started walking back to the kitchen.
Henry grabbed her wrist and spun her around. He said coldly, “Did I tell you I wouldn’t eat it? Put it down.”
Shana raised an eyebrow. “Pay up.”
Henry was rendered speechless.
“Or I’ll be worried you’ll back out.”
Henry, seething with anger, pulled out his phone. He tapped quickly across the screen, and a transfer success notification popped up.
Gritting his teeth, he shoved the screen in front of Shana. “Happy now?”
Shana’s face lit up with a grin. She placed the plate back in front of him, saying, “Mr. Floyd, please enjoy your meal.”
Henry shot her a glare before picking up his fork and twirling some pasta.
He took a small bite and tasted it slowly, despite how bland it was. Normally, he wouldn’t have even given it a second glance, but this time, he didn’t put the fork down and continued eating.
Shana, feeling bored, leaned on her hand, her chin resting on her palm. She hadn’t brought her phone with her and now had to wait, just in case Audrey or Grace woke up. She couldn’t help but stare at the man in front of her.
After a while, she froze.
Henry consistently displayed a refined and visually appealing demeanor. His manners were ingrained in him, always present in every action.
Even when hungry, he would always eat slowly and with grace. Throughout the three years of their marriage, they shared countless meals together, and he consistently ate slowly and with grace.
Now, he was devouring his food like a ravenous beast.
