Shana had expected the place to be bustling, but she hadn’t anticipated just how crowded it would get.
The area was packed with layers of people, and especially a large number of young girls, all dressed up, their faces glowing with excitement, constantly snapping pictures with their phones in the same direction.
It was obviously a major fan event.
Shana found herself puzzled. Which celebrity would come to a small town like theirs for a commercial appearance?
Her curiosity flared up in an instant. She followed the direction of the crowd. But there were so many people, their heads pressing together, that even on her tiptoes, she couldn’t see who it was.
At that moment, a girl was jostled from the crowd, lost her balance, and stumbled backward. Shana’s quick reflexes kicked in, and she caught the girl just in time.
The girl, still shaken, turned to thank Shana. But when she saw her, her eyes lit up, and she smiled sweetly, calling out, “Shana, you’re here too?”
Shana looked down at her energetic face and recognized her as Emily Houle, the girl from her neighborhood. She smiled and nodded, then asked, “Who are you all here to see? Which idol?”
“Not a celebrity!” Emily exclaimed, her cheeks flush with excitement. “It’s Dr. Grant! He’s so handsome! I came with a few friends to see him, but the crowd is just too much. We can’t even get close!”
Dr. Grant!
Shana blinked, momentarily surprised, but then she realized it made sense. With his otherworldly looks, Cyrus could easily rival any movie star. No wonder the girls were going wild.
Suddenly, Emily seemed to remember something and grabbed Shana’s hand. “Shana, you’re good friends with that hottie, right? Can you get me his autograph? And maybe a photo with him, too?”
Shana touched her face in frustration.
Of course, every fan girl had the same routine.
Audrey, standing off to the side, was thoroughly entertained by the scene. She couldn’t help teasing Emily, “He’s a decade older than you–he could be your dad! And you’re calling him hottie, aren’t you embarrassed?”
But Emily was unbothered and stood her ground. “If he’s handsome and tall, no matter how old he is, he’s a hottie! It’s the ugly ones who are uncles!”
Pfft! Shana couldn’t hold back a laugh. She knew Emily had a point.
This was a world where looks mattered! If you have good looks, and the world was yours!
“Shana, please! Pretty please!” Emily shook Shana’s arm and pleaded non–stop.
Emily’s grandmother and Audrey were best friends for years. Shana considered Emily like a little sister,

“Well, I’ll have to ask first. Dr. Grant isn’t a celebrity. If he doesn’t want to show his face, we can’t force him.”
Emily wasn’t the type to make unreasonable requests. She nodded eagerly.
Shana saw that the line for Cyrus’s consultations had already stretched out of the park. She decided it wasn’t worth squeezing in with Audrey. She decided to wait until he took his lunch break before making the request.
Taking out her phone, she sent a quick WhatsApp message to Cyrus and then took Audrey to another doctor’s booth while they waited.
Since they were already here, they might as well check things out.
As luck would have it, when Audrey was done with her consultation, Shana’s phone pinged with a message from Cyrus.
Cyrus wrote, “I’ll be off in 15 minutes; meet me by the lake.”
Shana quickly responded with a thumbs–up emoji.
You can’t go asking for favors empty–handed, so Shana left Emily to look after Audrey and headed to a nearby drink shop.
She had planned to bring Cyrus a cup of coffee–after all, the first time they met at the airport, he was drinking coffee. But all the local shops sold bubble tea, not coffee, so she ended up buying three cups of bubble tea instead.
Audrey couldn’t have any, as her blood sugar was high.
Shana carried the drinks to the lakeside, where Cyrus was already waiting. His back was to her, and he faced the lake, the breeze blowing gently, making his white coat billow out. His long legs looked impossibly graceful.
For a moment, it felt like a scene straight out of a movie, and just as Emily had said, he truly looked like a hottie straight out of the silver screen.
Shana, who was deeply in love with Henry, rarely paid attention to other men’s looks, but Cyrus was the first whose charm made her want to look twice.
Everyone’s eyes are drawn to beauty, and she was no exception.
Before Emily could approach, she was already practically bouncing off the walls with excitement. Shana, worried that Emily’s enthusiasm might scare Cyrus, had her wait with Audrey while she went to consult him first.
Audrey immediately held Emily back. “Go ahead, I’ve got this one. She’s not running anywhere!”
Emily pouted and said, “I’m not running away!”
Shana ruffled Emily’s head, handed her the bubble tea, and walked over to Cyrus.

Cyrus’s dark eyes suddenly locked onto Shana as she approached. She was holding the bubble tea with a wide smile.
Her smile was brighter than the sun in the sky and made his heart race.
“I brought you some bubble tea; thanks for all your hard work.”
He flinched slightly. For a moment, something flickered in his eyes, as though lost in thought.
Shana gently waved her hand in front of him, asking, “Dr. Grant? Did I startle you?”
Cyrus snapped back to reality, unconsciously smiling as his voice softened. “No.”
When Shana handed him the bubble tea, he didn’t hesitate. He took it, inserted the straw, and took a sip.
“It’s really good, thank you.”
Shana was relieved. She said, “I was worried you might not like bubble tea. A lot of men don’t care for it because it’s too sweet.”
For example, that picky rich heir.
She recalled a time when a well–known brand introduced a popular bubble tea flavor. She had passed by the mall, seen the long line, and thought it must be delicious.
After waiting for what felt like forever, she bought two cups, planning to share one with Henry.
When she gave him the drink, he looked at it with disdain. She insisted he try a sip, but he was impatient and just knocked it over.
“Well, I don’t know about others, but I really like it.”
Cyrus’s gentle voice brought Shana back to the present. Her heart warmed. Whether he was being sincere or just being polite, it was far better than Henry’s behavior.
At least Cyrus didn’t take others‘ feelings for granted.
Remembering her purpose, Shana spoke again. “By the way, I actually came here to ask a favor.”
Cyrus raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”
She pointed to an older woman and a younger girl sitting on a stone bench nearby. She felt a bit embarrassed but pushed through. “That’s a young girl from my neighborhood. She’s a huge fan and would love your autograph and, if possible, a photo with you.”
Before she could finish, Cyrus readily agreed, “Sure.”
Shana froze.
That was too easy! He was literally an ideal man.
“Thank you!” she exclaimed, waving Emily over.

Emily ran toward them as if in a race, eyes fixed on Cyrus. “Cyrus, you’re so handsome!”
Cyrus smiled faintly and said politely, “You’re adorable too, Emily.”
Shana watched as Emily, usually so bold, suddenly blushed a deep red and turned shy.
Cyrus really had that kind of charm!

Shana pulled out her phone and offered to take their picture. She chose a nice angle. “Say cheese-”
Emily was ecstatic after getting the photo and the autograph signed. Just as Shana was about to leave, Cyrus spoke up. “Shana, would you mind walking with me around the park?”
Shana was surprised, but she agreed. “Sure, I know this place well. I’ll show you around.”
She had Emily take Audrey home, as the old lady was feeling a bit weak after being out for too long. Then Shana and Cyrus strolled along the lake, taking their time.
After a while, he stopped and gazed at the lake, softly speaking, “Shana, do you know why I signed up for this charity clinic?”
