Chapter 69 Henry Got Emo
She said, “Ms. Robertson, I’m sorry, but there’s not enough money on your card.”
The card in question was Shana’s salary card. She had already done the math. The bonus from her last two assignments, the extra funds she had scrounged from Henry these past few days, and the 100,000 she had received today as her wife’s salary were more than enough to buy the watch.
How could it be insufficient?
Shana squeezed the card between her fingers, frowning deeply. After a moment of thinking, she figured out what the problem was.
With a cold expression, she took out her phone and called Henry.
The dialing tone echoed in her ears, but no one answered. It rang until she hung up in frustration.
Shana huffed and quickly dialed Larry’s number.
Larry answered immediately, using a polite tone, “Mrs. Floyd, what can I do for you?”
Shana tried to keep her cool. “Where’s Henry?”
Larry looked up from his desk. Behind the large, elegant desk, the handsome and distinguished man was leisurely flipping through some documents, his phone face down on the table.
As his loyal and highly professional assistant, Larry could not afford to reveal any weakness about his boss. His job was to make sure Henry’s troubles didn’t become his.
So, with a tinge of guilt, he responded, “Mr. Floyd is in a meeting. Is there something I can pass on to him for you?”
Shana scoffed. After all these years, Henry still couldn’t come up with a more creative excuse!
With a forced smile, she said, “Mr. Weaver, put it on speaker.”
Larry had no more trick up his sleeves. He was rendered speechless.
Shana had become so sharp, which put him in difficult situation. He honestly kind of missed the days when she believed everything without question.
Holding the phone, Larry helplessly turned to Henry and said, “Mrs. Floyd has something to say to you.”
Henry tossed the pen aside, leaning back in his chair, lazily lifting his eyes. Henry crossed his long legs elegantly, his chin slightly raised. “Put it on.”
Larry quickly tapped the speakerphone button, placing the phone on the desk and stepping aside.
He decided to leave; he wasn’t about to get stuck in the middle of this conversation.
“Go ahead. What is it?” came Henry’s cold, indifferent voice, causing Shana to grip her phone tightly.
But now was not the time to lose her temper. She inhaled deeply and addressed the matter directly.

Henry propped his chin with one hand, adopting a businesslike tone. “Mrs. Floyd, I’m a businessman, not a philanthropist. Since you didn’t meet your KPIs this month, your salary has been withheld. Once your performance improves, I’ll pay you the full amount next month.”
:: “What?”
Shana found the reason so absurd that it left her speechless.
After a long pause, she finally found her voice, laughing in anger. “Mr. Floyd, how did I not meet my KPIs? I went with you to the wedding; you walked off with your mistress, and I stayed behind to clean up after you. I even maintained your image in front of Duncan. Don’t tell me I didn’t meet my KPIs–I exceeded them!”
She almost wanted to applaud herself for being so dedicated.
However, Henry remained unfazed, his tone still indifferent. “Mrs. Floyd, let me remind you, our contract clearly states that the final interpretation rights are mine.”
In other words, if he said she didn’t meet her KPIs, then she didn’t.
No matter how much she had done, it didn’t matter compared to his word.
Shana’s chest heaved with rage, her hands trembling. No matter how smoothly Henry phrased his words, they couldn’t conceal the fact that he was retaliating against her.
He was hurting her financially because she had rejected his advances.
He was cruel, and his actions were shameless.
After a tense moment, Henry spoke again, his voice laced with victorious delight. “Shana, if you want the money, it’s not impossible. Just speak nicely.”
He paused, then added meaningfully, “I can be very accommodating sometimes, as you know.”
Shana knew exactly what he was implying. At that moment, she hated him so much she could have kicked him to death. She had no interest in flirting with him.
“Henry, I was wrong. My mistake was making a deal with a despicable, arrogant, sleazy sc*inbag like you. Do you know why I don’t want to sleep with you? Because you’re terrible at it! I can’t tolerate these grievances!
“This month’s salary? I’m giving it to you. Go buy some medicine and get yourself checked out. You’re young; don’t ruin your health.”
Since he had targeted her soft spot, she had to hit back Telling a man he was bad in bed was the hardest thing to bear!
Sure enough, Henry’s calm demeanor completely vanished. He growled, “Shana!”
Shana didn’t give him the chance to speak further. With a snap, she hung up the phone,
Back in the office, Larry had listened to the entire exchange, keeping his head down and holding his

breath.
Henry’s face twisted in anger. His breathing grew heavier, and with a sudden move, he grabbed the phone and slammed it onto the ground.
Larry watched helplessly as his newly bought phone shattered into pieces, and his heart broke along with
- it.
Why was it always him who got hurt when the couple fought?
“Out!” Henry shouted.
Larry disappeared without a second thought.
Henry, trembling, pulled a cigarette from his pack and put it in his mouth, but he couldn’t light it.
Frustrated, he snapped the cigarette in half and threw it into the ashtray.
Shana’s boldness would have led her to act out in front of him yesterday if she had someone else in her life.
So, when she repeatedly rejected his advances, was it truly because he wasn’t good enough?
Henry was an incredibly proud and confident man. He believed there were no flaws in his abilities. He had never considered himself imperfect.
But at that moment, as he stared down at his lower body, he found himself slipping into deep self–doubt.
“Shana, calm down, relax. It’s just 100,000 bucks; it’s no big deal. I’ll take care of it!”
Cheryl said, trying to smooth things over while swiftly pulling out a card to pay for the watch.
Shana took a few deep breaths, the anger slowly dissipating. The sc*mbag wasn’t worth her mental energy.
“Cheryl, thank you. I’ll pay you back later,” Shana said.
Cheryl threw her arm around Shana’s shoulders. “Come on, there’s no need to be polite. Your uncle is basically my uncle too. This is just a little token of my appreciation.”
Shana didn’t argue. She mentally noted that she would repay Cheryl once she earned her bonus from her next few stories.
On Brian’s birthday, Shana made sure to arrive on time at the house.
It had been a while since she last saw Ryan. He had gotten a little darker, but his physique was noticeably stronger. She ruffled his hair and asked, “Haye you been good lately?”
Ryan pushed her hand away with an exaggerated look of disgust as she patted him like a dog again. “Shana, are you coming here alone again?”
Shana had no words.

He really knew how to hit her where it hurt.
“Brt, you get restless if I don’t smack you for a day, don’t you?” Shana pretended to hit him.
At that moment, Gillian walked out from the kitchen, trailed by someone.
