Shana was suddenly caught off guard.

The se undrel may not have said much about her cooking, but he certainly never once mentioned that he disliked it.
Yet, words weren’t always necessary. His attitude said it all. Didn’t she have enough self–awareness to see that?
ou didn’t say it, but your actions make it clear you don’t like it!” She couldn’t back down now.
Henry had been stewing in silence for days, and now he had finally found a way to pin her down. He raised his voice, “Shana, you’re convicting me based on your own imagination. How clever of you!”
Haha! Hilarious.
Was it her imagination, or had she hit the nail on the head and embarrassed him? Didn’t he know the truth?
Shana was equally irritated and almost ready to storm off, but her rationality held back. Her task wasn’t finished yet.
Taking a deep breath, she forced a calm facade as if nothing had happened and tried to change the subject. “Mr. Floyd, if you’re done eating, shall we get to the business at hand?”
Still fuming, Henry heard her words and laughed coldly. He stood up, ready to leave.
“Mr. Floyd!” Shana quickly grabbed his hand and softened her tone. “I apologize for my rude remarks last time. You’re a bigger person–please don’t hold it against a weak and vulnerable woman like me.”
Weak and vulnerable woman?
What a joke! She was anything but weak, with a mouth that shot insults like a machine gun.
When he didn’t respond, Shana realized she hadn’t hit the right note. She took a deep breath and tried again, “Mr. Floyd, don’t take my last words to heart. They were said in the heat of the moment. Honestly, you’re great. Very capable!”
She spoke with conviction.
This time, however, she wasn’t lying. Every word was sincere.
Still, she couldn’t be sure if it was her previous remarks that left a mark on Henry, but he suddenly jerked his hand away and glared down at her.
“Shana, shut up. I don’t want to hear any more of your comments!”
Clearly, no amount of flattery would win him over. He didn’t trust her words anymore.
Shana felt like she had just shot herself in the foot.

Since this approach wasn’t working, she decided to try another. Standing up, she casually straightened Henry’s collar, lightly tapping off invisible dust from his shoulder. Her smile was playful and mischievous.
“Mr. Floyd, surely a married couple can’t hold grudges, right?”

It had to be said–when Shana fought back, she could make Henry furious. But when she softened and tried to please him, she could be gentle and sweet; he found it hard not to appreciate the treatment now.
Still, Henry didn’t show his emotions. His voice remained flat. “What’s your game? Just say it.”
Shana was aware that, given Henry’s intelligence, he would have already deduced her ulterior motives.
No use in beating around the bush anymore. “It’s a simple thing, Mr. Floyd. You can manage it with just a few words.”
She explained briefly and clearly.
“So you want me to pull some strings for your uncle’s niece?” Henry’s voice turned icy.

“Shana, you know better than that my company follows a merit–based rule. As CEO, I must set an example. Why should I give you special treatment?”
Henry was known for his strictness when it came to company affairs. Years ago, Cheryl had wanted to join the Floyd Group. Her mother had asked Duncan to intervene, hoping to place her directly in a higher position. When Henry found out, he immediately shut it down, leaving Olivia extremely embarrassed.
Despite her initial despair, Cheryl persevered. She fought her way from the bottom. With her university degree and sharp mind, she climbed her way up and eventually became the head of the public relations department.
But Henry wasn’t as incorruptible as he liked to seem.
Shana knew the truth–Violet from the secretarial department was actually Kate’s relative, and Henry had brought her in himself.
He has two standards–one for everyone else and another for his true love.
If she hadn’t known the full story, she might have almost believed his lies.
However, today she wasn’t pushing for someone to be hired. Now that he had refused, her task was done. She could go back and report to Brian.
Suppressing her irritation, Shana forced a smile. “Fine, if you won’t do it, I’ll take it that I was never here. Goodbye!”
With that, she grabbed her bag and walked off without a second thought.
Perhaps Henry hadn’t expected her to walk out after all her efforts, and in a moment of surprise, he instinctively grabbed her wrist.
“Are you really leaving like this?”
Shana tried to pull away but couldn’t break free. She turned to face him, her expression flat. “Mr. Floyd, you’ve already rejected me. If I stay, should I keep begging you?”
It was clear to her now–Henry was thinking exactly that. His dark eyes locked on hers, silent.
Shána saw through him. She smirked sarcastically and said, “Dream on. There’s nothing you can do in your dreams that you can’t do right here.”
And then Henry understood.

Everything–the apology, the conversation–had all been a ploy. She had simply been caught between a rock and a hard place with Brian. So she came to him, using him, and now that she had achieved her goal, she was ready to leave.
In simple terms, she had just played him again.
“Let go, I’m leaving.”
Shana had no intention of wasting any more time with him. She had other things to do, like stopping by the office to see if there were any tasks she could pick up.
Nie se undrel had cut off her salary, and if she didn’t work hard to make money, she wouldn’t be able to make her next payment.
The urgency in her movements annoyed Henry. He didn’t let go, but instead, he spoke slowly.
“I’ll give you one chance to convince me.”
Shana paused, taken aback.
From what she knew of Henry, he was a man of firm principles–he rarely ever went back on his word. Just moments ago, he had been adamant about setting an example, and now he was giving her a chance.
She became curious and asked, “What do you think I should do to change your
o mind?”
“It’s a simple thing–just a small thing you can handle with a few words,” he returned her words exactly.
What did that mean?
Before she could react, Henry’s arm wrapped around her, pulling her toward his solid chest. One hand ciraled her waist while the other cupped the back of her head, bringing her closer.
Then he kissed her, forceful and intense.
Everything happened too quickly–his movements were smooth and seamless. By the time Shana regained her senses, his tongue was already forcing its way into her mouth, tasting her thoroughly.
“Mmm.”
Shana, still stunned, was furious and embarrassed. This sc*undrel had used the moment to take advantage of her.
Perhaps it had been too long since he had been this close to someone. His body temperature surged, unable to satisfy the brief exchange of lips. He gripped her delicate waist, tossing her onto the large sofa.
The next moment, his tall frame loomed over her, pinning her hands above her head, and his lips came down hard on hers again.
