Henry didn’t seem to care while buttoning up his cufflinks gracefully. He noticed that Shana was visibly furious since her hands trembled as she struggled to button her shirt.
Although they hadn’t gone all the way, he’d kissed, touched, and held her. Men often felt a sense of tenderness in moments like these. He smiled and gently reached out to help her fasten her buttons.
His eyes dropped to her as he casually remarked, “You’re my wife. Legally registered on my record. If I can’t act like a beast with you, who else should I act like one with?”
household
To him, physical intimacy between a husband and wife was the most natural thing in the world. He didn’t shy away from his desires as there was no need for it.
After all, the kind of man who could command a presence in the business world was one with insatiable ambition. Such men had strong appetites, in every sense of the word.
Still, Henry was selective–discerning to the point of being picky. Not just any woman could catch his eye.
Shana had always met his standards at least in bed.
That alone made her occasional bouts of drama and stubbornness tolerable. After all, finding someone who matched his rhythm in bed was rare.
Upon hearing Henry’s words, Shana rolled her eyes.
Is this sc*mb*g playing the good husband again?
As if he hadn’t been just as much of a “beast” with that homewrecker, Where did the baby come from?
The only reason he was so persistent with me now was probably because the homewrecker was pregnant and couldn’t satisfy him.
Oblivious to her thoughts, Henry’s gaze shifted beyond her, landing on the aftermath of their earlier struggle.
A damp spot on the leather sofa caught his attention.
It was a vivid reminder of the moment when he’d pinned her down and teased her into losing control.
His voice dropped lower, teasing as he leaned close to her ear. “Mrs. Floyd, you didn’t lose out either. From what I saw, you were enjoying it too.”
Shana froze as her eyes darted to his long, slender fingers, and the memory of his touch flooded her mind. Her ears burned crimson as she fought to suppress her embarrassment.
She quickly rationalized to herself that it was just a natural reaction. Anyone subjected to that kind of stimulation would’ve reacted. Even a pig wouldn’t have been immune to such deliberate provocation.
There’s nothing to be ashamed of!
Until now, Henry had always maintained the air of a conservative. His sudden switch to suggestive banter caught her off guard.

Sure, she’d watched plenty of risqué videos to learn how to seduce him in the past, but her approach was pure surface–level at best–deep down, she was still a hopeless romantic.
Shana pushed him away with all her might and hurriedly fixed her clothes. The unevenly buttoned shirt left gaps, making her feel even more exposed. Shooting him a venomous glare, she strode over to the coat rack, grabbed his suit jacket, and threw it over herself.
Henry stood at an imposing 6’2“, his broad shoulders and lean waist accentuated by years of disciplined workouts. He had a perfect build for any type of garment.
His jacket on Shana was comically oversized, like a child playing dress–up. But right now, she didn’t care.
It was better than walking out in disarray and becoming the subject of office gossip.
She decided she was done talking to him. She fixed her hair, took her bag, and turned on her heel to leave.
Henry watched her retreating figure with crossed arms. His jacket draped around her petite frame made her carry his scent. It was a satisfying sight, one that stroked his possessive instincts.
Shana had made him happy today.
“Mrs. Floyd, weren’t you here to ask for my help? Are you giving up already?”
Shana halted mid–step.
Does this sc*mbag ever stop?
She turned and said sarcastically, “What? Now that Mr. Floyd is satisfied, he’s ready to deliver on his promises?”
She intended to mock him, but to her surprise, he seemed to consider it.
Walking back to his desk,
Henry sat in his chair leisurely. His gaze fell on the lunchbox she’d brought earlier.
“If you cook and deliver my meals every day for the next month, I’ll let her in–for a one–month internship.”
Shana was speechless.
What a textbook businessman. He’s going to squeeze out every last bit of value, huh?
She wanted to snap back, but after a moment’s thought, she held her tongue. She’d already been humiliated, it would be worse if she walked away with nothing.

Besides, while she didn’t care much about Alina’s job prospects, fulfilling this request would at least buy Brian some peace, sparing him from Gillian’s relentless nagging.
“Fine, I’ll agree. But I have conditions too.”
She marched up to his desk, planting both hands on its surface and leaning in close. “First, you transfer last month’s paycheck to me immediately. Second, you cover the cost of all ingredients. And third–our contract doesn’t include sleeping together. Don’t touch me again.”

Shana pushed open the restroom door, only to come face–to–face with Cheryl, who was just about to walk out. Cheryl’s eyes were red like she’d been crying. She was probably shaken up by Henry
Though Cheryl was her best friend, the thought of someone close to her catching a glimpse of such an embarrassing scene felt like a catastrophic social death
Even someone as thick–skinned as Shana couldn’t pretend it hadn’t happened.
For a moment, silence hung awkwardly between them
It was Cheryl who broke the tension first. “Shana, did you and Henry make up? I saw your post on Facebook.”
Her usual gossipy tone helped Shana’s nerves settle.
If both of us don’t bring it up, this whole thing can just blow over.
“No,” Shana replied curtly.
Her expression darkened at the mere mention of Henry. Her disdain was undisguised. “It’s all for show, nothing more.
Cheryl’s eyes drifted curiously to the faint red marks on Shana’s neck. “I thought you two were–”
“No! We weren’t, and we’re definitely not!” Shana interrupted, slapping her hand over Cheryl’s mouth. “I we’re besties, you’ll bury what happened today in the depths of your soul and never bring it up again!”
Cheryl, unable to speak, nodded furiously, as though swearing an oath to heaven.

Satisfied, Shana walked over to the sink, turned on the faucet, and began washing her hands. Just as the tension started to dissipate, another thought struck her
“Cheryl,” she said, glancing over her shoulder. “About Alina … I need to ask a favor.”
That night, Cheryl barely got any sleep as her dreams were chaotic. It took a large cup of black coffee to snap her out of her haze.
Today was Alina’s first day reporting for work.
A red sports car purred into the Floyd Group’s underground parking lot. Cheryl expertly backed into her designated spot before stepping out of the vehicle.
The moment she looked up, her heart skipped a beat–Henry was walking toward her.
