Melissa’s POV
I don’t know how much time passed before I woke up. Phoebe was sitting beside me on a chair.
When she saw that I was awake, she poured me some hot water.
“Listen, Melissa, you don’t need to put so much pressure on yourself. Alpha has already returned. Just face him with a calm heart, that’s all.”
I nodded absently, hoping I could manage it.
By the time Sebastian entered the room, I had already had dinner.
He looked at me and gently kissed my forehead, then scolded me in a tone that felt oddly affectionate.
“How can you not even take care of yourself? You’re worse than our little Mignon. If you were a child, I’d have locked you up by now.”
Seeing the anger in his eyes, I still didn’t understand what had happened.
“My dear, it’s my fault for not protecting you better. I knew how much you were looking forward to the arrival of our child, yet I didn’t eliminate all the risks for you. The doctor said the poisoning isn’t severe and won’t affect the baby, so you can rest easy now.”
His hand gently rested on my belly, and I could feel him trying to control his emotions.
“Are you saying I’m pregnant?”
Hearing Sebastian’s words, I slowly sat up, my eyes filled with surprise as I looked at him. “Tell me, is that true? I’ve never felt this bad before, nor have I ever experienced vomiting or a low fever, so it never occurred to me that it could be something like this.”
I gently stroked my belly, feeling overwhelmed with joy. This was the greatest gift from the Moon Goddess!
“Are you feeling any discomfort now?” Sebastian was very concerned about me, and he kept stroking my face and stomach. The sensation was incredibly comforting to me.
I felt somewhat ashamed of my thoughts and actions, because what I had done almost betrayed my lover.
But Phoebe was right–talking about it now wouldn’t help either of us.
“My love, no matter how bad you feel in the future, don’t hide it from me. Tell me how you really feel, Melissa! No matter how difficult things get, we’ll face it together.”
I nodded in response to his words.

“What if the other person is as strong as Courteney? She’s been clinging to you, and there’s that irresistible pull.” I said, feeling more and more ashamed of myself. I knew just how powerful that attraction could be, and I understood how my ex–husband had struggled to
resist it.
Even someone with as strong a will as Atrias Elliotson had been bound by fate, and I wasn’t as persistent as Courteney.
But I didn’t know if Sebastian would be the same, or if his fate would hold him with the same tenacity. Therefore, I simply couldn’t feel at ease.
“What if the pull is so strong that you just can’t refuse?” I asked, my tears falling relentlessly.
“Fool,” he said gently, wiping away my tears. “I will prove that
that my
love is stronger than any supposed destiny. Every time, I will choose you without hesitation! You don’t need to worry, my love. We will get married and welcome our baby into this world. My life will not give a single chance to that so–called fate.”
His unwavering certainty only made my tears flow harder.
“Your stepmother hates me, and your pack might be in chaos because of me. Sebastian, I don’t want to be a burden
on you.”
Each word came from my heart, and I just wanted to feel at ease for once.
“Debra won’t affect our life. She will never be able to force me into doing anything I don’t want to do. As for the pack–I’m the Alpha, and you’re my Luna. No one can dictate our decisions.”

“Alright, you’re just overthinking because you’re pregnant.”
He said it with a soft chuckle, pulling me closer, his lips gently kissing my eyes, slowly moving toward my mouth.
I parted my lips to meet his kiss, letting it wash over me, erasing the lingering taste of Atrias Elliotson.
His hand gripped the peak of my breast and his other hand clasped the back of my directly.

“You’re so bad!” I grunted softly, pushing back slightly harder.
Sebastian didn’t say anything, lifting my leg straight up to his shoulder and sliding the other large hand that clasped my ass cheek down.
I was anticipating the intimacy that was to follow when he suddenly stopped.
“No, my Melissa, my baby! You both need to get some rest. As much as I want you so badly, it’s not right. I need restraint.”
