Chapter 2
I kicked open the door with a force that made a loud crash, causing both of them to turn
and look at me.
I took a step forward, raised my hand, and slapped Ella hard across the face, the force leaving my palm numb.
“Ahl
Ella screamed!
Her delicate, fair hand immediately covered her reddened face.
“What are you doing? Crazy woman!”
She threw herself into Vincent’s arms, her messy hair falling around her ears, looking pitiful and heart–wrenching.
Vincent held Ella in his arms, his eyes filled with concern.
Then, he turned his head and asked me in a cold, detached tone:
“Margot, how did you get here?”
Not once did he show any guilt, his expression as calm as ever.
I, however, was the first to break down. I screamed hysterically:
“How did I get here?! Maybe it’s fate that I got her call!”
I pointed at Ella and then pulled out the phone I had never seen before from my pocket, slamming it hard onto the ground.
Ella, standing beside Vincent, suddenly realized:
“You were the one who hung up on me earlier?! I knew Vincent would never hang up on
me!”
Chapter
She pouted, looking just like how I used to act when I spoiled Vincent.
Vincent furrowed his brow and pulled Ella closer to him.
He gently stroked her face and, without a care for anyone else, asked softly:
“Does your face hurt?”
Those words froze me in place, leaving me unable to move…
Ella didn’t directly answer him, instead raising the corner of her mouth at me, clearly acting
like a victor.
In an instant, an overwhelming sense of grievance surged in my heart.
My voice was hoarse, trembling with a hint of tears:
“Does it hurt? ‘Does it hurt?!”
“Vincent, it’s been ten years! I’ve loved you for a whole ten years!! You’re such a good
– actor…”
“So good that I thought you were the one for me in this lifetime…”
I cried uncontrollably, my body unsteady from the intense sadness and anger, and I collapsed to the ground.
