Chapter 8
Vincent quickly packed up my things and threw them at me.
Since I had been living with Vincent in the school apartment, our house had also been sold by him.
Now, I was left with nothing, completely sidelined by him.
It was Wesley who took me in.
“I rented a place off–campus for my research, and there’s a spare room. Do you want to
stay?”
“Thanks…”
I had no other option but to move in.
In just a few days, Wesley and I became roommates.
He was very disciplined–he went to class and worked out during the day, and at night, he stayed home doing research and reading.
One thing worth mentioning is that he cooked amazingly well–his dishes were on par with Michelin–level chefs!
I joked with him: “With skills like that, why don’t you have a girlfriend?”
He looked at me intensely and said,
“She used to have a boyfriend.”
I picked up a rib. “That’s a shame, but from the way you saying it, she’s single now?”
Wesley didn’t respond but his gaze grew deeper.
I didn’t want to pry into his personal matters, so after we finished eating, I returned to my
room.

I had originally planned to marry Vincent after graduation and settle into the role of Mrs.
Carter.
But I was too naive.
While working on my thesis, I also began looking for ways to bring Vincent down.
But Wesley told me,
“What you need to do is learn how to manage a company. That way, when the company comes back, you won’t have to give it to someone else.”
I had never considered this path, nor had I thought that I could ever get the company back.
I simply followed the process and filed a lawsuit, waiting for the court’s summons.
Meanwhile, I was so busy with my thesis that I had little time to think about anything else.
