Chapter 12
The scene was absolute mayhem.
Suddenly, I clutched my stomach and crumpled to the ground, groaning in pain.
“Mom! Dad! My stomach… it hurts so bad…”
Julian tried to help me up, but my dad swatted his hand away.
“Get lost! I’m taking my daughter to the ER. If anything happens to Emily, you’ll all pay for
it!”
Rosemary wasn’t about to back down.
“Get lost yourself! Go ahead and take her to the hospital! Don’t come crawling back to us later! She’s carrying our grandchild and you think you can act like this?!”
On the way to Cedars–Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, my dad rubbed his wrist,
regretting that he hadn’t hit Julian harder.
Thankfully, I’d had the foresight to install security cameras around our house, so everything Julian and his family had done was recorded. Once we arrived at the hospital, I underwent a comprehensive series of tests.
The doctor confirmed that the long–term use of birth control pills had taken a toll on my
liver, kidneys, and uterus.
I requested an official medical report, outlining the damage and linking it to the prolonged
use of contraceptives.
With the report in hand, my parents and I headed back home.
Julian had been blowing up my phone with calls and texts.
“Honey, please answer! I can explain everything that happened today.”
“The baby was an accident, I swear! You’re the only one I love.”

Chapter 12
“Babe, I’m so worried about you, please pick up!”
Finally, my dad answered.
He unleashed a torrent of fury into the phone. “You have the nerve to call? The baby? My daughter almost died, and all you care about is the baby?!”
Our gated community in Brentwood is very strict about privacy. No one gets in without a resident’s permission.
Julian and his mother tried to visit several times, but they were always turned away.
While we were preparing our lawsuit, I heard that Jessica had taken Ethan to Julian’s office downtown and caused a huge scene.
Everyone, from the neighbors to his coworkers, knew he’d lied about his past, had a child in his hometown, and was still involved with the child’s mother while married to me.
Julian was suspended from his job and forced to stay home.
