Chapter 3
Gavin never gives me a chance to refuse him, a trait he shares with Jeremy. However, I don’t have a reason to turn him down, especially since his friends all know I’m the one he’s about to marry in a flash wedding.
Early the next morning, Gavin offered to pick me up and asked for my address, but I declined his offer and took a cab to the location he’d sent. When the driver stopped in front of a massive villa, I was stunned. I had thought Georgia’s villa was luxurious enough, but seeing Gavin’s home made me realize what true grandeur looked like. This villa must be worth tens of millions, and for a moment, I even wondered if he had rented it. After all, his small company barely had any staff and always seemed on the verge of closing down.
He had many friends, unlike Jeremy and me, who didn’t have close friends at all. The next second, I felt an overwhelming urge to escape as I was showered with greetings of “sister–in–law” from everyone around.
After a bit of billiards with Gavin, it was time for dinner. The butler rolled in a large cake and set it on the dining table, surrounded by a variety of lavish dishes. I noticed that two seats had been deliberately left empty. Catching my confused look, Gavin leaned in close to whisper that his annoying little niece would be joining us. His head tilted close, his warm breath brushing against my neck. The more I tried to push him away, the closer he leaned. in, until we ended up playfully bantering, oblivious to everyone else.
His friends teased us, too.
“Hey, don’t scare her off before you even get married, bro, haha.”
“Yeah, look at our sister–in–law. She seems
haha.”
So sweet and innocent. Don’t scare her away,
As laughter filled the room, my face grew hotter, and I looked down even lower. Gavin
continued to tease me, smiling the whole time.
Suddenly, a voice broke through the lighthearted atmosphere. “Uncle Gavin!” The familiar
voice made me freeze.
“Amanda? What are you doing here?”

We asked simultaneously, both stunned. Jeremy’s gaze met mine, and his eyes were filled with anger. Georgia quickly tugged on his arm to bring him back to his senses. Gavin leaned back in his chair, smiling as he spread his hands. “Oh, you know each other?”
I was about to answer, but Georgia interjected first. “The three of us are classmates. What a small world, huh? Who would’ve thought you’d know each other too.”
Then she looked at me and asked, “Is the man beside you your boyfriend?” Gavin’s question. sent a chill through the room.
Georgia smirked, hooking ho
arm through Jeremy’s. “Yes, he’s my new boyfriend. Handsome, isn’t he? I brought him here just to introduce him to you.”
Gavin chuckled. “More than good enough for you.”
Georgia shot him an annoyed look, then turned to me. “And you and Amanda are…?”
Gavin suddenly straightened, pulling me close with an arm around my shoulders. “She’s your future aunt, beautiful, right?”
The words were barely out of his mouth when Jeremy suddenly pulled me up. “Amanda, what’s the meaning of this? Are you trying to get back at me?”
I looked at Jeremy’s furious expression and smiled mockingly. “Jeremy, what are you doing? Your girlfriend is right next to you.”
Seeing Jeremy’s furious expression, Georgia quickly stepped in to smooth things over. “Jeremy, let’s sit down. Today’s my uncle’s birthday, so let’s celebrate first. We can talk about everything else later.”
After we all sat down, Gavin leaned in close and whispered to me, “So, this is the ex–boyfriend you mentioned?”
