Chapter 9
To be honest, it wasn’t until after we got married that I started to develop feelings for him. I wouldn’t dare say I love him, yet he could say it to me so easily. Thinking of this, I tilted my head up, looking at him with a playful smile. “Gavin, didn’t you used to dislike me? How did you suddenly…”
I left the question hanging, watching his expression closely. His
cars turned red as he stammered, “I didn’t dislike you. I–I just acted that way because I liked you. I thought you looked especially… cute when you were angry.”
Hearing this, I felt a secret joy, though I feigned displeasure. “What kind of habit is that? You liked me, so you picked on me? I was so mad!”
He smiled, then suddenly cupped my face and kissed me. “I’m sorry, my dear. Didn’t I make it up to you later?”
“Fine, I forgive you.”
“You’re the best. Another kiss?”
On our honeymoon, we traveled to many countries, staying abroad for over three months. During that time, Jeremy sent me numerous messages, telling me that Georgia had lost the baby, and that he hadn’t married her. He also said he would wait for me forever. He liked and commented on all my Instagram posts, always praising me, but if there was a photo of Gavin, he’d selectively ignore it.
The day before we returned, I discovered I was pregnant. Gavin was overjoyed, practically like a child, eagerly sharing the ultrasound with everyone. I also posted the happy news on Instagram with the caption, “I finally have a home–soon we’ll be a family of three!” I’d thought about this caption for years, but never imagined it wouldn’t be with Jeremy.

When we returned, Gavin’s parents were thrilled, and his mother had already begun shopping for baby supplies. Gavin even hired a personal assistant for me to manage my meals and daily care, and he came home early every day to spend time with me, sharing

funny stories. Gavin’s mom brought me designer bags and jewelry nearly every day.
For the first time, I felt an unparalleled happiness. I was no longer the girl who only had Jeremy. I had so many people who loved me now.
One day, Georgia suddenly came to see me, anxiously asking if I knew where Jeremy had. gone. That’s when I found out he had disappeared, and no one knew his whereabouts. I had no desire to know either, as long as we both lived our lives in peace.
A year later, I gave birth to a pair of twins, a boy and a girl. My life was finally complete, and my children would never go through what I did. I would ensure they grew up in joy.
Many years passed, and my life remained as blissful as ever. I was lucky to have children who were well–behaved and thoughtful, and my husband continued to love me as he had from the start. I found myself growing to love him more deeply every day.
One night, a notification appeared on Instagram. I clicked on it and saw a familiar yet distant profile
-Jeremy. He had liked my post from years ago. I thought, after all
these years, now that we’re both middle–aged, he might have finally let go.
Truthfully, I no longer held any resentment toward him. Gavin and his family had healed me, and Jeremy was just a friend in my memories.
Thinking of Jeremy reminded me of Georgia. She remained unmarried, and I’d heard that her mental health had deteriorated. I hadn’t seen her in years. She must have been devoted in her own way, but sadly, she fell for the wrong person.
