Chapter 5
First, I went to the property management office. As the owner, I requested to see Unit 301’s
lease agreement.
I’d planned to gather information on Jade, but discovered something better – Ryan was the
tenant of record.
I couldn’t help but laugh at this man’s stupidity.
Didn’t he realize this was basically admitting to cohabiting with another woman while
married?
Next, I contacted a well–known private investigator.
I asked him to dig up everything on Jade and collect evidence of Ryan’s infidelity.
Thanks to their carelessness, the investigation went surprisingly smoothly.
Turns out Jade had dropped out of school early to work in questionable establishments.
I couldn’t believe Ryan had picked up such damaged goods and was treating her like a
queen.
That evening, I knocked on 301’s door with newfound confidence.
I heard frantic scrambling inside.
After a while, Jade opened the door in revealing sleepwear.
–
“Oh, it’s you again. Still complaining about the noise? And all dressed up too I get it, I get it, we’ll try to keep it down.”
I pushed past her into the apartment.
Men’s and women’s clothes were scattered across the floor, the air thick with… ‘activity‘.
My sharp eyes caught men’s underwear – Ryan’s usual brand.
Chapter St
I kicked aside the offensive clothing and headed for the bedroom.
Seeing my determined stride, Jade panicked and blocked my path.
“Hey now, this is my place. Why are you barging into my bedroom? People might think you’re here to catch someone cheating!”
I met her eyes with a smile. “Funny you say that. In this whole building, everyone’s heard you two. Why are you trying so hard to hide him now? Is he someone else’s husband?”
Jade shifted nervously, muttering: “Well, he’s not YOUR husband, so what’s it to you?”
I held her gaze meaningfully: “Yesterday my husband had a fight with me and didn’t come home. Someone told me he came to your place. As his legal wife, I think I should check.”
I strode toward the bedroom.
My aggressive approach caught Jade off guard – she couldn’t stop me in time.
Seeing the empty but messy double bed, Jade visibly relaxed and taunted: “See? I told you that you were wrong! Instead of being paranoid and checking other people’s beds, maybe think about why your husband ran away!”
“Oh really?” I paused by the curtains.
A breeze lifted the fabric, revealing two male feet.
I didn’t expose them, pretending to leave empty–handed.
Thinking she’d fooled me, Jade posted on social media that night:
“LOL nothing better than someone else’s husband!
She included a couple photo where the man’s wedding ring matched mine exactly.
I laughed coldly and removed my ring.
Without hesitation, I threw it out the window.
