Chapter 1 Divorce
It was a scorching day in August.
The sun was so blazing that Celeste Hartley could barely keep
her eyes open.
Covered in blood, she stumbled out of the Halo Group building.
As she glanced at the contract in her hand, her pretty face
beamed with a bright smile.
Nathaniel Rowe had been trying to seal the deal for a long
while.
To make it happen, Celeste had taken a bullet.
But she found it worth it – it was her birthday gift to him.
Once she reached the Rowe Building, she took the elevator
straight to the CEO’s office, which was on the top floor.
Just as she reached the door, she heard a woman’s sweet, coquettish voice from inside.
“Nathan, you’re so bad… You’ve made my lips all swollen.”

Celeste felt a sharp pang in her heart.

She couldn’t help but wonder why a woman was in there with him.
Nathaniel had always been kind of aloof.
So, she didn’t believe he’d let another woman flirt with him.
After all, he’d gone all out of his way, spending two years chasing after her.
And all he could see was her.
Still, she braced herself, pushed open the slightly ajar door, and walked in.
Celeste thought she must’ve heard it wrong.
Yet, the luxurious office greeted her with a sight she dreaded.
Madelynn Hartley was sitting on Nathaniel’s lap, her face.
flushed.
They seemed to have just shared a passionate kiss.
A look of panic flashed across Madelynn’s face as she saw Celeste.

She quickly got off Nathaniel’s lap and tried to explain.
“Celeste, I…”
Celeste was taken aback as she gazed at Madelynn.
She couldn’t believe it was her!
Celeste and Madelynn were switched at birth by the nanny.
Later on, the Hartley family sent Celeste to the countryside after they discovered they had the wrong child.

In the following years, none of them had ever cared about her.
When she turned eighteen, they took her back.
And Celeste met Nathaniel that year.
She said yes to his proposal after his two years of pursuit.
It wasn’t until Madelynn showed up that Celeste knew the
truth.
It turned out that the Hartleys had already found the real
daughter.
They wanted to cut ties with Celeste and even asked her to
break up with Nathaniel so that Madelynn could marry him.

instead.

Celeste rejected the idea because she loved Nathaniel deeply.
Until now, she was still head over heels for him. But sadly, he didn’t love her anymore.
Celeste’s eyes were welled up with tears as she watched the
two lovebirds before her.
Her heart ached as if it was torn into pieces.
She then approached them step by step.
The gunshot had already taken a toll on her body. And
Nathaniel’s betrayal only made it worse.
After a few steps, Celeste collapsed on the ground awkwardly,
her face covered with cold sweat.
It hurt…
The wound hurt, but her heart ached even more.
“Nate…”
She called out, looking up at Nathaniel, who was standing
before her.
Chapter 1 Divorce
He was as noble and elegant as over.
As the richest person in Kinston, he was the heartthrob of
many womon,
In the past, Celeste was his one and only.

But now, he wouldn’t even spare her a glance after she fell on the floor.
Madelynn became the one that mattered the most to him.
“Nate, check on my sister, will you? She doesn’t seem okay,” Madelynn said, acting concerned.
She gave Nathaniel’s shoulder a playful nudge.
After glancing at Celeste coldly, he warned, “Cut the drama, Celeste! No one’s buying it. Get out!”
Suddenly, Celeste coughed up a mouthful of blood.
She couldn’t believe her ears – Nathaniel actually told her to get out?
With tears in her eyes, she stared at him and retorted, “If anyone should leave, it should be Madelynn, the mistress!”
“Shut up!” Nathaniel interrupted her, his voice dripping with

discontent.

Anger and frustration gradually crept in Celeste’s eyes.
It didn’t matter anymore, for Nathaniel had shattered all her
hopes.
Leaning on the wall for support, she struggled and got on her
feet.
“Celeste, take it easy. Your health is what matters.”
With that, Madelynn moved to help her, pretending to be
concerned.
Celeste immediately pushed her away.
She snapped, “Don’t touch me!”
Madelynn looked down, sneering as she pretended to lose her
balance.
“Ah!” She screamed.
Seeing her about to fall, Nathaniel quickly rushed over and supported her.
“Why did you push Madelynn? Don’t you know she’s not well?” He questioned, carefully holding Madelynn.

Celeste just smirked.
She barely nudged Madelynn.
As she was seriously injured, she couldn’t possibly have pushed Madelynn down.
Madelynn was such a drama queen in front of Nathaniel.
“What are you laughing at?” Nathaniel asked.
He suddenly had a bad hunch.

It was the first time he had ever seen Celeste acting that way.
Whenever she looked at him before, her eyes were always full of love. But now, they were filled with hatred.
For no reason, he felt uneasy.
However, Nathaniel couldn’t stand seeing Celeste bullying Madelynn the whole time.
Madelynn glanced at Nathaniel, worried he’d be too soft.
She quickly grabbed his arm and uttered, “Nate, please don’t blame her. I wasn’t standing firm. It’s my bad.”

“Nathaniel, did you hear what she said? I didn’t push her that hard, but…”
Celeste clenched her jaw and stepped forward, adding, “Now
I do!”
Then she grabbed the phone next to him and hurled it at Madelynn.
“Ah-” Madelynn shrieked.
“Celeste!” Nathaniel yelled, moving fast to shield Madelynn.
The phone didn’t hit her; Nathaniel blocked it just in time..
Celeste sneered at the scene.
“Madelynn, I treat you as my sister, but you went after my
husband. You enjoy being a homewrecker, huh?”
“No… I don’t…” Madelynn murmured.
Then she lowered her head, looking on the verge of tears.
“Nate, you promised to marry me. Celeste took my place and married you. I’m not a homewrecker…”
Nathaniel quickly held her close, gently reassuring her.

Chapter 1 Divorce
“Moddie, don’t cry. It’s my fault if you feel mistreated.“”
His gaze turned icy as he looked at Celeste.
He declared, “Madelynn isn’t a mistress. I fell for her at first sight. Celeste, we should get divorced now.”
“You want a divorce? Fine, I agree,” Celeste replied.
Her quick agreement caught Nathaniel off guard.
He had expected Celeste to argue until he couldn’t stand it.
Somehow, he was a bit stunned.
Did she really want a divorce?
