Nathaniel scoffed, saying, “Your dad spent tens of millions overseas on what turned out to be fake antiques, and you’re asking why Celeste is involved instead of him?”
“You think I wanted this mess? She spotted that the vase was a fake right away. Do you really believe your ex–wife would be into antiques? Didn’t you know that?”
Leon’s father had told him to reach out to Celeste, but he couldn’t get ahold of her and ended up asking Nathaniel for
her number.
And, of course, he ran into her.
Nathaniel, deep in thought, was struck by how different Celeste seemed after their divorce.
She was a mystery now, even more so with her newfound interest in antiques.
He warned Leon, “Stay away from Celeste.”
Leon thought about her dazzling smile from earlier and felt
his heart race.

He thought, “I clearly can’t stand Celeste, so why the sudden. flutter?
Damn, just a fleeting infatuation.”
Leon added, “You’re divorced from her now, and with her looks, who wouldn’t be tempted? Besides, you’re into Madelynn, right? If you weren’t, I might just pursue her myself.”
Leon’s casual demeanor was infuriating.
Nathaniel shot him a cold look and said, “Have you found out anything about the heir to Imperial Estate?”
Leon shook his head, his expression turning serious. “No luck. I’ve heard the heiress has been abroad for four years and is now back to take over Imperial Estate. She’s got control of Chrinera’s network. Rumor has it she’s a prodigy–she finished her PhD at eighteen and holds multiple degrees.
“The way people talk about her, she sounds almost mythical. But apparently, she’s got a cold demeanor and rarely meets anyone. Even now that she’s back managing the company, only a few people get to see her.”
Nathaniel frowned, trying to grasp a fleeting thought that eluded him.

Leon noticed Nathaniel’s silence and smirked. “So, after hearing about this extraordinary heiress, you’re planning to chase her?”
None of their group was genuinely serious about women, but Nathaniel was the exception, having been with Celeste for four years.
Nathaniel’s gaze hardened, a menacing glint flickering in his eyes as he coldly warned, “Shut up and remember, stay away from Celeste.”
Leon was taken aback, feeling the chill from Nathaniel’s glare.
Leon thought, “So, you don’t want her, but won’t let anyone else near her either? What’s up with Nathaniel? Damn, I just felt a real threat from him.”
“Oh, and by the way, I saw the news on my way here. Your company’s confidential info was stolen by your ex–wife. Is that true?”
Nathaniel’s face darkened.
He thought, “So she isn’t the one I’m familiar with.”
Leon grew increasingly frustrated when Nathaniel remained silent.

He thought, “He’s got such a nasty temper, always going mute
at crucial moments.”
Leon then pulled out his phone and saw the news had updated again.
It turned out Celeste wasn’t the thief after all. The real culprit was Candy from the same department, who had framed Celeste.
The comments online were buzzing: [The face–slapping is happening too fast!]
Leon was frustrated. “Great, so you called your ex–wife over just to humiliate her, only to find out you were wrong? Nathaniel, being arrogant is one thing, but being a fool is
another.”
Nathaniel shot him a frosty glare. “Get lost.”
Leon quickly made his exit, not willing to mess with Nathaniel’s
current mood.
In the car, Celeste regained her composure.
She glanced at the screen, and her expression hardened dramatically.
In her mind, Candy didn’t seem the type to steal confidential

files or frame her for it. Though Candy was a bit pompous and had some influence, she didn’t strike Celeste as capable of
such deceit.
She instructed Briar, “After you drop me off, look into Candy for me.”
