Chapter 2 You’re Pregnant 

Celeste took the contract out of her bag.

She said calmly and coldly, “The deal with Halo Group is done. It’s the last favor I’ve done for you. Let’s go get the divorce 

certificate now.” 

Nathaniel’s eyes flashed with surprise but quickly went back to 

their usual coldness. 

“Many companies failed to seal that deal, but you nailed it. I’m curious, how did you manage it?” 

His voice was low and indifferent, and his words still dripped with contempt. 

So, it seemed to him that Celeste had used some shady ways. 

Celeste clenched her hands, lowering her gaze to hide the pain in her eyes. 

Suddenly, Madelynn chimed in, “Celeste, you didn’t sleep with the boss to secure the deal, did you?” 

Nathaniel’s eyes were brimmed with mixed feelings as he 

heard it.

He mocked, “That’s just like you, Celeste. You’ll do whatever it 

tokes.” 

Celeste had almost died for this contract, yet she had to put up with their accusations. 

It was unbelievable! 

“Yeah, I’m totally ruthless. Meanwhile, your little sweetheart is 

pure as can be,” Celeste replied, her voice thick with sarcasm. 

“Don’t drag Madelynn into this. She’s nothing like you!” 

Nathaniel sure knew how to protect that mistress. 

However, he defended no one but Celeste like that before. 

What changed? 

Nathaniel wasted no time and got a lawyer to draft a divorce agreement. 

He signed it right away. 

“Check if there are any problems with the contract. If it’s good, sign it.” 

Celeste, feeling weak, took the agreement.

Then she made a change to one of the clauses.

Surprised, Nathaniel asked in a deep voice, “You want to leave with nothing?” 

Using all her strength, Celeste replied, “Yes. If we’re getting a divorce, let’s make it clean.” 

Once she made up her mind, there was no turning back. 

The four–year promise she made to her grandpa had come to 

an end. 

It was time for her to leave. 

Celeste hoped Nathaniel wouldn’t regret it. 

After wrapping up the divorce, Celeste left in a hurry. 

A luxury car pulled up beside her. 

The driver opened the door and spoke to her respectfully, “My lady, Mr. Jameson asked me to take you home.” 

Anger flared up in Nathaniel’s eyes as he spotted the sleek Rolls–Royce. 

Without a second thought, he angrily grabbed Celeste’s hand.

“No wonder you agreed to the divorce so fast. So, you found someone new Is he richer than the, the wealthiest man in 

Kinston?” He snopped. 

Celeste narrowed her eyes. 

“Nothaniel, you never really understood me. Do you really 

think I married you for your status and money?” 

With that, she got into the car and drove off. 

Nathaniel stared at his empty hands, momentarily stunned. 

Celeste’s scent seemed to linger around him. 

It was faint, yet, he was a little obsessed with it. 

But that feeling vanished in no time. 

She found another man right after their divorce, so Celeste 

must have never loved him! 

Meanwhile, Celeste slumped against the car seat. 

Her wound was reopening and needed urgent treatment. 

Chapter 2 You’re Pregnant Suddenly, her phone rang. 

It was a missed call from the hospital. 

Then she dialed back.

“Ms. Hartley, your physical exam report from last week is ready. Everything’s normal, except…” 

“Except what?” 

“You’re six weeks pregnant.” 

The words hit her like a thunderclap, making her heart race. 

She couldn’t believe her ears. 

Pregnant? 

How could this happen right after the divorce? 

What was she supposed to do about the baby? 

Snapping out of it, she pulled out her phone, instinctively wanting to call Nathaniel. 

But they had just split up. 

So, Celeste quickly put the phone down, realizing she couldn’t

Nathaniel cheated on her, and she would raise the child alone. 

It was totally over between Nathaniel and her, after all. 

Meanwhile, Madelynn hugged Nathaniel the moment he got 

back into the car. 

“Nate, this is wonderful! That bumpkin has finally divorced you. We can finally get married!” 

Madelynn was so delighted that she couldn’t wait to tell her parents the good news. 

A hint of indifference flashed in Nathaniel’s eyes, but his tone 

was gentle. 

“Maddie, I’ll take you home.” 

“Great, Nate. My dad will be thrilled to know that you’re divorced. Let’s go home and tell him the good news!” 

At that moment, unreadable emotions were brewing In 

Nathaniel’s eyes. And he tried hard to tame them. 

Then, with a gentle smile, he gazed at the cute woman and uttered, “Maddie, let’s go share the good news with your dad 

then.”

“Okay!”

Madelynn was ecstatic since she finally drove Celeste away. 

She couldn’t help but be amazed at how brilliant her mom 

could be. 

So, it turned out that Celeste and Nathaniel split up because Modelynn’s mom pulled some tricks. 

Later on, Nathaniel’s car stopped at the gate of Hartley Villa. 

He asked Madelynn to get out of the car first after getting a call from Halo Group’s president. 

Madelynn did as he said and waited outside. 

“Hello?” Nathaniel’s voice was low, his eyes cold. 

A mocking voice came from the other side. 

“Mr. Rowe, I’m impressed by your company’s sales director. She’s got the guts, holding a knife to my throat to make me sign the contract.” 

“Well, I shot her. And she pulled out the bullet right in front of me! Celeste’s the first woman that has ever impressed me. Is 

she still alive?”

Nathaniel was astonished, widening his eyes in shock. 

“What did you say?!” 

After ending the call, Nathaniel quickly called Celeste. 

But he just couldn’t get through to her. 

When he looked at the screen, it suddenly hit him – Celeste had blocked his number.
