“She is your cousin? Are you sure about that?” Celeste’s eyes turned cold as ice as she stared him down.
Travis furrowed his brow. He thought, “Who was this woman? Why did she seem so familiar?”
With Adeline here, he absolutely couldn’t let her find out Mia was his wife.
The people behind them glared at Celeste, enraged.
“How could she try to kill someone in broad daylight like this?”
“She’s my cousin. Why are you trying to kill her?” Mia had severe asthma. Without her medication, an attack could be fatal.
At first, seeing how fashionably this woman dressed, he assumed she came from money. But to his shock, when it came time to buy a house, she couldn’t even scrape fifty thousand dollars togner!

“This is my friend, Mia Kensington. You say she’s your cousin? What kind of cousin exactly?”
“She’s my father’s sister’s daughter,” Travis replied confidently.
Celeste’s expression shifted slightly at his words.
“May I ask your name?”
“I’m Travis Kensington,” he answered.
As soon as the words left his mouth, the color drained from his face.
“What do you mean? Are you saying you don’t believe me?
“Hand her over to me now. I’ll take her back for burial.”
Travis moved to support the body.
Celeste stepped back, fixing him with a sharp gaze. “You didn’t even check her. How can you be so sure she’s dead? Or is that what you’re hoping fo

She no longer felt any attachment to the Kensington family.
Travis was at a loss for words.
He’d heard Melinda’s cries and desperately wanted this clingy woman out of the Kensington family. With her asthma attack and lack of immediate treatment, she shouldn’t have survived.
His gaze fell on the woman before him, taking in her delicate features and striking eyes. She was undeniably beautiful.
Realizing Celeste was Mia’s friend, he assumed she must be another poor girl.
What a waste of such a pretty face.
“Miss, I don’t know what beef you have with my cousin, but you let her have an asthma attack without calling for help. What were you thinking?” Travis looked at Celeste with feigned anguish.
Celeste furrowed her brow.
This man’s act was so fake it made her sick.
“Young lady, if you know what’s good for you, you’ll turn yourself in. We’re giving you a chance to save your pride,”

Madelynn lurked in the crowd, watching Celeste being falsely accused of murder. She couldn’t let Nathaniel miss out on this juicy drama.
She turned to fetch Nathaniel.
A group suddenly appeared behind them. They were dressed in regal attire, especially the middle–aged man leading them, who exuded an impressive aura.
Madelynn furrowed her brow. He looked somewhat familiar.
She felt like she’d seen him somewhere before but couldn’t quite place it.
At that moment, Celeste and Travis were arguing, “Travis, you know damn well why she had an asthma attack. You and your mother left Mia here to die, and now you’re framing me for murder. It’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Travis and Melinda were shocked to hear this.
Melinda snapped. “You bitch! What nonsense are you spouting? You killed Mia, and you still won’t admit it.”
Celeste scoffed silently, “How could you be so sure Mia was dead?”

Madelynn’s eyes narrowed. It was a golden opportunity. She couldn’t let Celeste off the hook, If she went to prison for murder, it would only take a few strings pulled to ensure she died behind bars.
Then, the secret would be buried forever.
Madelynn stepped forward, looking down her nose at Celeste. “Well, well, Celeste. Leaking company secrets wasn’t enough for you? Now you’ve resorted to murder? Since you’ve killed Mia, you might as well confess. Everyone’s watching.”
