Chapter 36 Necklace

“Nathaniel, what are you standing there for? What’s there to be reluctant about? She’s a woman with nothing. A useless person who can only serve coffee and cook. She wasn’t worthy of you. She was just a burden. Now that you’re divorced, treat Maddie well. Pick a good day and finalize the marriage,” Fiona said.
A cold glint flashed in Nathaniel’s eyes. He turned to look at her, mocking, “Mrs. Rowe, a useless person who only serves coffee and cooks, took care of your family, keeping them comfortable. Even if you searched with a lantern, you won’t find another daughter–in–law like that.
“You seem to dislike her. Fine. If you’re willing to care for Madelynn, I’ll marry her just so she can serve you,” he said.
Nathaniel finished speaking coldly. He left Fiona standing there, stunned. Then he walked away.
Fiona frowned. She watched Nathaniel’s back, her gaze darkening. How dare he say such words.
But she couldn’t worry about that now. Nora wanted to give her shares to Celeste. Luckily, she had been cautious and didn’t let Nora succeed.
Nora wanted to give the shares to an outsider. She must be dreaming!

Hmph! She would make sure Nora willingly gave her the shares.
Celeste returned to the car. She had already calmed down. Briar drove them back.
Nathaniel sat in his car. He watched Celeste’s car leave. He couldn’t snap out of it for a long time.
Celeste went upstairs to rest as soon as she got home. Briar and Everly noticed she was in a bad mood. They didn’t dare go upstairs to disturb her.
Everly made a late–night snack and put it in the warmer. She sent Celeste a message, telling her the snack was in the warmer. Then she and Briar went to rest.
Celeste took a bath. When she came out, she looked down at her slightly rounded belly. All her negative emotions disappeared, replaced by deep anticipation. Twins. She had never imagined she would be pregnant with twins.
When she married Nathaniel, she had been looking forward to having children. If she had children, she would finally have a real family.
But just as she got pregnant, she was divorced.
Maybe she was destined to never have a real home in this life.
Celeste figured it out. She wouldn’t let herself feel sad. She

wouldn’t let it affect the babies‘ development.
She changed into loose clothing. The others couldn’t tell she was pregnant yet.
She picked up her phone and saw Everly’s message. She hadn’t caten anything at the party. She went downstairs to have dinner.
After dinner, her phone suddenly vibrated. She picked it up and saw it was that damned Nathaniel calling.
She had just calmed down when the word “IIusband” in her contact list name stung her eyes again.
Celeste didn’t answer the call, but Nathaniel didn’t give up. He kept calling.
“Hello,” she said.
“Come back. Some of your things are here. Pack up some personal items. There’s also a necklace you brought. If you want it, come now. If not, I’ll throw it away,” Nathaniel said.
Celeste frowned and thought for a moment. She suddenly remembered it. It had been a gift from her friend, Abigail
Turner.
Celeste was exhausted today. She didn’t want to go. “Can I come tomorrow? It’s too late tonight,” she said.
“Sure. I’ll toss it in the trash. You can pick it up at the dump tomorrow,” Nathaniel said. His voice was filled with malice.

Celeste closed her eyes in pain. Her heart ached again, throbbing with each beat. Her breathing became heavy.
“Fine! I’ll come now,” Celeste said. She wanted to get the necklace back. After that, there would be no more ties between them. She would block all contact with the Rowe family.
Half an hour later, Celeste arrived at the villa where she had lived with Nathaniel for a year. This place used to be where she felt happiest.
But now, just looking at it brought immense pain.
She stood at the door, about to knock. Suddenly, the door opened.
