Celeste opened her eyes. Her hands were still trembling as she held the photo. She asked coldly, “Nathaniel, I’ll ask you one last time. Who gave you the photo?”
The corners of her eyes were red, as if they were bleeding.
Nathaniel’s eyes were sinister. His smile was cold and heartless. “It doesn’t matter who gave it to me. All I know is that you’ve always loved this man. Celeste, I was just playing with you. Don’t take it seriously,” he said.
His mocking and heartless words once again shattered Celeste’s already broken heart beyond repair.
He had been playing around, but she had taken it seriously.
She looked at Nathaniel with a gaze full of pain and heartbreak. “Nathaniel, don’t make me find out you had anything to do with Elias. If you did, I will kill you myself,” she said.
Celeste shouted angrily. Then she turned and left.
She had already forgotten about the necklace.
Jealousy clouded Nathaniel’s mind. He quickly stepped forward, snatched the photos, tore them to pieces, and threw them at Celeste’s feet.

Nathaniel’s eyes turned blood–red as he watched her grief–stricken actions. Even with the photos destroyed, she cared so much. Just how much did she love that man?!
Nathaniel stood there, stiff and motionless, watching her frantic behavior. Her pained expression made the murderous intent in his eyes surge violently.
It had been four years, and this was the first time he had seen her in so much pain.
The woman in front of him felt like a stranger.
Celeste looked at the shattered photos on the ground. Her hands trembled as she picked up the pieces one by one, holding them close to her heart like precious treasures. She left in a daze, crying uncontrollably, unable to control her emotions.
When she got back to her car, she didn’t even have the strength to drive. She leaned on the steering wheel, crying until she had vented all her pain. Only then did she finally drive away.
Nathaniel watched her sob the entire time. He watched her drive away. His lips pressed into a tight line. His eyes gradually turned blood–red. His once handsome face twisted with cruelty.
She was willing to kill him for another man!
“Celeste, you’ve done it.”

A cruel smile curled at the corners of his lips. He was curious to see how Celeste would kill him.
Celeste returned home. She used tape to piece the shattered photos back together. But they were still broken and could never be restored. Just like Elias, he would never come back.
She lay down on the bed, feeling dejected, and fell into a deep. sleep.
In her dream, she seemed to see Elias.
The young man was still smiling happily and gently. “Celly, why are you crying again? Don’t cry. Didn’t I tell you that I would protect you for life?”
“Elias…” In her dream, she murmured his name. Tears slid down the corner of her eyes.
For three days straight, Celeste’s emotions were unstable.
She hadn’t come out of her room at all.
Everly and Briar were very worried, but they couldn’t persuade Celeste.
Everly brought lunch to her room. She saw the photo of Celeste and Elias. She finally understood why Celeste had acted so strangely these past few days.
After coming out, Everly looked at Briar with tears and said.

“Ms. Hartley is thinking about Mr. Ashworth again. No wonder she’s so sad. She hasn’t spoken a word in three days.”
Briar’s gaze dimmed. No wonder Celeste had locked herself
in the room. It had been four years, and Celeste still couldn’t overcome this hurdle.
“Mr. Ashworth’s death is something Ms. Hartley will never be able to let go of in this lifetime. They grew up together. Even after four years, she still can’t move on.”
“Sigh.”
Both of them sighed at the same time.
On the fourth day, Celeste finally came out of her room. But her expression had become even colder and more indifferent.
“Ms. Hartley.” Briar looked at her with concern.
Celeste ate her lunch and asked, “How’s the investigation I asked you to do? Hasn’t the situation with Candy been cleared up yet?”
