Chapter 41 Dinner 

Celeste’s gaze narrowed slightly. As the adopted daughter in name, she wouldn’t miss the opportunity. It was the perfect chance to approach them. 

“I can’t refuse your kind offer. I’ll come over tonight,” she said. 

She agreed. It was a good chance to investigate the Hartley family and to look into her background. 

“Celeste, it’s best that you think this way. Dinner starts at six. Remember to come back,” Jane said. Her voice was already full of kindness. 

If someone didn’t know her true nature, they would think she was kind and gentle just by hearing her voice. 

“Alright, I understand,” Celeste said. 

Celeste hung up the phone and looked at Everly. “Eve, go prepare a set of cosmetics. I’m going to the Hartley Villa tonight,” she said. 

Everly frowned, thinking of the malicious Jane. She nodded. “Okay!” she said. 

Celeste went to change clothes. She happened to run into Briar coming back from outside.

“Boss, I’ve been watching the Hartley family these past few days and found something interesting,” Briar said. 

Briar excitedly ran over to Celeste. She showed her the video like she was presenting a treasure. 

“This is the business deal of the Miller family from Kinston. It was intercepted midway, but the Miller family doesn’t know who did it. The one who intercepted it was Charlie. Also, Ms. Miller has been unhappy with Madelynn these past few days because of the lead female role. Madelynn got the lead role by funding the project under Nathaniel’s arrangement. Ms. Miller doesn’t know Madelynn undermined her from behind,” Briar said. 

This was the gossip she had picked up over the past few days. 

Madelynn wouldn’t have an easy time if she told Chloe. 

Celeste saw there was video evidence. She thought of how Madelynn secretly framed her. She pointed at the video, planning to return the favor. 

She also wanted to watch the show. 

“Send it to Ms. Miller and Mr. Miller. Let the Hartley family experience the power of the Miller family,” Celeste said. 

“And, get ready. We’re going to the Hartley Villa tonight,” she said. 

Briar looked puzzled. Why were they going to the Hartley Villa?

The whole family was full of wickedness. 

She was afraid of getting infected. 

“Boss, why are we going to the Hartley Villa?” Briar said. 

Celeste’s red lips curled into a smile. “To watch the show!” she said. 

Jane wouldn’t ask her over for no reason. Something was up tonight. 

Briar smiled faintly. After sending the video to the Miller family, she prepared. 

At six in the evening, Celeste arrived at the Hartley Villa on time. 

She told Briar to wait outside. She went in alone. 

Thomas opened the door. Thomas was middle–aged and had gained weight. He had a sly smile and narrow eyes. When he smiled, it was hard to figure him out. 

“Celeste, you’re here,” Thomas said. 

Celeste found Thomas‘ smile very unpleasant. 

Celeste knew he wasn’t a good person. He was Charlie’s most dangerous hitman. 

He had done many bad things for Charlie over the years.

Charlie navigated both the legal and illegal worlds with ease. He was very good at hiding his true self. 

“Mr. Jones, long time no see!” Celeste said, smiling as she greeted him. 

“It really has been a long time. You’re still as gentle as ever,” Thomas said. In his eyes, Celeste was still as easy to manipulate as before. 

“Please, come in,” Thomas said as he gestured for her to enter. 

Celeste’s 

gaze swept around the surroundings. She had only been to the Hartley Villa twice in all these years. 

The first time was when she returned. She forgot what she came for the second time. This was her third time here. 

Nothing had changed here. The only difference was that the maple leaves had turned red. 

They walked into the hall without saying a word. It wasn’t until Thomas left that Celeste saw Nathaniel standing in the hall. 

They hadn’t seen each other for a few days. When Celeste suddenly saw Nathaniel, the pain she had suppressed in her heart was instantly awakened. 

Her gaze trembled slightly. She tried hard to hide the pain. 

The man wore a white suit. He was both righteous and wicked.

His handsome face carried a touch of a devilish smile. 

“Celeste, why are you here?” Nathaniel said.
