Chapter 42 Blessings
Celeste watched him smile. She thought about how he had heartlessly torn up the photos. He could still smile so happily as if nothing had happened.
She knew Nathaniel was heartless. He only wanted to humiliate
her.
Nathaniel saw she wasn’t speaking. He narrowed his sinister eyes and looked at her. She was wearing a pink dress. It was cold, so she had a matching shawl over her shoulders. It highlighted her curves, making her figure look delicate and
mysterious.
Her hair was tied in a ponytail. A diamond necklace adorned her fair, elegant neck. It sparkled under the light. Her features had always been stunning and captivating.
Her beauty and his charm. He had always thought they were the perfect combination.
They looked at each other for a moment. Celeste looked away. She thought, if she didn’t love him anymore, she should be able to go back to being her old self and make him feel heartache.
“You can come here, but I can’t?” she said. Her gaze was indifferent, without a trace of love.

could live just fine without her in his life.
The moment he abandoned her, he became unworthy of forgiveness. Since he wasn’t worth it, she would let go.
“Celeste, you should have let go a long time ago!”

“This is my fiancée’s home, and you’re my ex–wife. I don’t want your presence to affect us,” he said. His smile was at its most sinister.
What was she doing here? To be humiliated?
Celeste walked over gracefully. She looked at him and gave a mocking, smile. “Nathaniel, we’re already divorced. Whoever your fiancée is has nothing to do with me. From now on, your world has nothing to do with mine. You’re not worthy of being a part of it. If you see me, avoid me. So I don’t embarrass you,” she said.
“Celeste,” Nathaniel said angrily. She always managed to ignite his anger with just a few words.
“You’re not worthy!” His gaze flashed with disgust.
“You are! Fine, think whatever you want. But don’t put me in your world. I find it dirty,” she said.
Nathaniel frowned, his gaze fixed on her. Did she really have to get involved with the Hartley family?
Celeste walked further inside.

Just then, she saw the elegantly dressed Madelynn coming down
the stairs.
Madelynn was dressed lavishly. A white dress, luxurious jewelry. It all made her look very beautiful.
“Celeste, you’re here,” she said, smiling as she walked toward Celeste.
“Yes,” Celeste said with a calm smile.
At that moment, Charlie and Jane returned from outside.
Celeste walked over and greeted them.
There was no denying that Jane was beautiful and youthful. She had given birth to Madelynn at eighteen and later had a son. Yet she remained stunning.
Charlie looked at Celeste with a loving smile. “Celeste, Nathaniel, let’s go cal first. We can talk while we cal,” he said.
They all went to the dining room and sat down. Celeste looked at the table full of dishes. Almost none of them were foods she liked. Her morning sickness had passed, so seeing fish and such no longer made her feel nauseous.
While eating, Jane placed food on Celeste’s plate. “Celeste, even though you’re not my biological daughter, you’re still my daughter in name. Come visit us often. We’re still family,” she said.

Celeste’s eyes held a hint of mockery. Jane always had that kind, gentle expression. She played her part well.
“Thank you, Mrs. Hartley, for thinking so highly of me. I’ll visit often in the future,” she said.
Nathaniel looked at her smiling face, his eyes narrowing. He was finding Celeste harder and harder to understand.
What was she up to?
“Celeste, I’m really happy you feel that way. Now you and Maddie can be sisters. She’ll have someone by her side,” Jane
said.
Jane glanced at her daughter. Madelynn quickly spoke up, “Celeste, just think of this as your home from now on. When Dad said he’d kick you out, he was just angry. Don’t take it to heart.
“And, Nate and I are getting engaged soon. You must come and give us your blessings,” she said.
“Hmph! You’ll be so jealous then.”
Celeste’s heart suddenly ached again. But she still smiled warmly as she congratulated them, “Well, congratulations. It wish you both many children and grandchildren in the future,” she said:
“Pfft…” Nathaniel had just taken a sip of wine, and her words made him spit it out in anger.
