“What the hell, Callan!” Jason’s face turned red with fury as he stumbled forward, ready to punch
Callan.
At the crucial moment, I shoved Callan aside and, without hesitation, slapped Jason across the face.
“Shut up already!”
Jason froze, stunned by the slap. Before he could recover, Callan pulled me behind him protectively and stuffed something into Jason’s pocket.
“It’s just a kiss with my wife, Mr. Parker. Instead of throwing a tantrum, why not attend our wedding
next week?”
Jason stood there, completely dumbfounded. Trembling, he pulled the item from his pocket–a wedding invitation. Seeing it was real, his eyes shot back to me, wide with disbelief.
“Caroline, you’re marrying him?”
I nodded. “To be precise, we’re already married. The wedding is just a formal ceremony.”
“How dare you?” Jason snapped, losing control. Ignoring his friends trying to hold him back, he stormed toward me, grabbing my shoulders and shaking me violently.
“Are you out of your mind? Even if it’s just to spite me, how could you go this far? Do you even know-
what kind of person Callan is?!”
The next moment, Callan grabbed Jason by the collar and punched him square in the face, sending him sprawling to the floor.
“What kind of person I am is for my wife to judge. It’s not your place to tell her anything!”
“Callan, you bastard! How dare you steal my woman? You stole from me, and now
too? I’ll kill you!”

Jason scrambled to his feet and lunged at Callan, and the two began brawling fiercely.
In the end, we all left the police station together.
Jason sat alone, waiting for someone to pick him up, while Callan, smug as ever, took my hand and walked out with me. As we passed Jason, Callan sighed dramatically. “It’s so nice to have a wife.”

Callan had been all bravado in front of jason, but as soon as we gra home, he deflated. He reverted to his usual polite and distant demeanor, as though the kiss at the club had been nothing but a figment of my imagination.
“Stop right there.”
Just before he retreated to his study, I stepped in front of him, blocking his way.
“Don’t you think you owe me an explanation?”
Callan hesitated, studying my expression carefully. “What are you referring to?”
“You kissed me!” I snapped, my frustration boiling over. “Why did you kiss me at the club? Don’t you think I’m dirty? Then why did you touch me?”
My barrage of questions left Callan stunned. When he finally processed what I’d said, he waved his hands in a panic.
“How could I possibly think you’re dirty? I don’t! I never did!”
