He forcefully turned me around and pinned me against the wall, the impact sending sharp pain through my back.
Leaning down so we were eye–to–eye, his bloodshot gaze locked on mine.
Unexpectedly, a single tear slipped from his eyes. “It was just something I said in anger, and you took it seriously? Caroline, are you really this heartless? You won’t even give me one chance?”
“Why did you marry him? I don’t believe it’s because you love him. You love me–you’ve always
loved only me!”
“Let go!” His grip on my shoulders was so tight it hurt. I screamed at him, my voice trembling with a
strange mix of fear and rage.
“You slept with him, didn’t you?”
Jason froze for a moment, then asked again, his voice low and trembling with fury.
“You slept with him, didn’t you? Say it! Is that why you married him? And after the wedding? You let him touch you, don’t you? Every day, right? That’s how you’ve managed to forget me so completely! Caroline, you’re such a-”
“Bang!”
Suddenly, I was pulled into a warm embrace. Callan had arrived, and with a single punch, he sent Jason sprawling to the ground, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
“Sweetheart, go inside the building and wait for me. I’ll deal with him and join you soon.”
Callan’s face was filled with unbridled fury, a side of him I had never seen before.
Before I could respond, he kicked the now–rising Jason again, the sickening crack of breaking bones. echoing in the air.
“No! Stop it! Callan, don’t hit him anymore!”
Terrified. I lunged forward to grab Callan’s waist, but he gently pushed me aside, despite the terrifying look in his eyes..

Shaking uncontrollably, I cried out, covering my head with my hands. At the sound of my scream,
allan rushed over, throwing off the jacket to check on me.
