Dawn crept in, painting the sky with pale hues of light.
After an intense night of passion, Callan held me tightly in his arms, his body slick with sweat, yet
entirely unbothered. He lazily nuzzled against my neck, his contentment palpable.
Just as I was on the verge of drifting off to sleep, he suddenly bit me lightly.
“We’re married now, Caroline.”
Stop playing by those contract rules. Let’s… date for real.”
His only response was the sound of my steady breathing as I had already fallen asleep.

Callan swallowed nervously before switching to his signature pitiful expression. “But you’re pregnant now! How could you possibly leave us–your husband and our future daughter? Or son?”
I stared at him, unimpressed.
“Fine,” I said with a smirk. “But you better make this wedding perfect. If I can’t fit into my dress,
you’re done for.”
“Yes, ma’am!”
“Also,” he added hesitantly, “since the contract’s canceled, can we… officially date now?”
