Chapter 4
I had no patience left. Reaching out, I prepared to pull her away from my desk
If she wanted the position so badly, she could have it. But there were still things I needed to take
away,
Before I could even touch her, Freya stumbled backward dramatically, as if I had shoved her.
I didn’t expect it and froze there. Two angry voices erupted simultaneously beside me.
What are you doing?!”
The accusation made it clear–Freya’s performance had its desired effect. She was playing the victim, and Trevor and Wade were buying it entirely.
In a flash, they rushed over. Trevor pushed me away, and Wade helped Freya up.
I stumbled into the desk, a sharp pain shooting through my waist. Yet Wade only looked at me with
disgust.
“Aurora, how can you do that?” he spat. “How could you push on Freya? It’s honestly disgusting.”
Then he turned to Freya, his tone soft and full of concern. “Freya, are you okay? Are you hurt?”
Freya shook her head repeatedly, but her hand was subtly tucked behind her back. Trevor and Wade noticed the movement immediately. They gently checked her hand and saw a faint red mark
on her wrist.
“Are you okay?” Trevor and Wade fretted over her, one on each side.
“Get the first aid kit,” Wade barked. A colleague hurried to fetch it, and they carefully tended to her “injuries” as though she were made of glass.
Nearby coworkers whispered among themselves. “Aurora hit the desk pretty hard. Shouldn’t someone check on her too?”
Hearing this, Trevor and Wade glanced at me briefly.
“When did you get hurt?”
Where are you injured?”

You’re not faking it, are you?” Wad was laced with skepticism.
refused to engage in their mockery. Clutching my aching waist, I replied coolly, “Whether I’m hurt or not is none of your concern. You should focus on Freya instead.”
The bitterness in my voice wasn’t lost on them. Their expressions hardened.
“What do you mean?” Trevor demanded. “We’re only worried about Freya because of you. If you hadn’t pushed her, she wouldn’t be hurt.”
“Exactly,” Wade chimed in. “Freya’s so kind. How could you treat her like this?”
I just left a laugh. “Believe whatever you want, but I didn’t push her.”
I turned my gaze to Freya. “And as for her kindness and innocence, it’s all an act. But if you two are so eager to be deceived, who am I to stop you? I’m only here to grab a few things anyway.”
I moved toward my desk and pulled on the drawer, only to find it empty.
“Where are my files?” I demanded, glaring at Freya.
Freya shrank back slightly, her voice trembling. “Aurora, the investment contracts belong to the company. Wade said I’ll be handling them from now on. So of course, I’ve already started managing
them.”
I turned to Wade. “You gave them to her?”
Wade’s face darkened. “Aurora, stop it! I assigned Freya to take over the contracts as part of her training. She’s a college graduate and specialized in this field. Naturally, she’s more suited to the
role.”
A college graduate. Training? The absurdity of it all made me laugh. So now they were using my Jack of a degree against me? How ironic, given why I never earned one in the first place.
“You handed over the investments I secured so she could ‘train“?” I asked, my tone icy.
“What do you mean, the investments you secured?” Wade shot back. “If it weren’t for Luxway’s reputation, no one would have even looked at you. Those contracts are Freya’s now, and you’re no longer needed here.”
He dismissed me with no look. “Consider this your resignation. Focus on enjoying the dividends from your shares–that should be enough to keep you comfortable.”
Their callousness was staggering. I stared at them, feeling nothing but cold detachment. “Fine,” I

aid. “Let’s see if Freya can close those deals without me,”
Trevor’s expression turned frosty, “Aurora, are you saying Luxway can’t function without you?”
“Exactly,” I replied. “I’ll enjoy watching you try to prove otherwise. And when Luxway collapses because you lose those investments, I wonder if your precious Freya will still stick around.”
“Freya isn’t like that,” Trevor said angrily. “She’s not the kind of person who judges people based on
money.”
Freya, as expected, burst into tears. “Aurora, how can you judge me like that? I only want to support Trevor and Wade. I’m not here for their wealth.”
She clutched Wade and Trevor’s arms, looking utterly heartbroken. “I’m just an orphan who dreams of having brothers to care for me. That’s all.”
Wade and Trevor glared at me with pure hostility.
“Aurora, must you always assume the worst?” Trevor said coldly. “You’ve become brutal. Just leave. You’re not welcome here anymore.”
Wade added, “And don’t worry about the investments. Freya, with her education, will do a far better job than you ever could.”
Before I could respond, a voice rang out from the doorway.
“Those investments are contingent on Aurora.”
Everyone turned to see a man standing there with an imposing presence. “If Aurora is no longer working for this company, then we will stop the contract.”
