“Caleb, get your phone.” Eric commanded. Reluctantly, Caleb obeyed. An officer stood beside him, ensuring he opened the “Jingbang” group chat. His face was hard and cold as he pointed the phone’s camera at Savannah. Evelyn had struck at her weakness.
“Snap!““Aaaaaah!!” Savannah cried out, shielding her face. Don’t film this! Her carefully constructed image would be shattered!
The officer, relaying Eric’s order, said, “Ms. Savannah, apologize to Ms. Evelyn and Young Master Alex.”
Savannah gripped the grass, her fingernails filled with dirt. She looked up, her face red, her neck veins bulging. She refused to apologize.
“Ah!” Another stroke. The officer stopped counting when she didn’t speak.“25,25,25…” Richard, exhausted, urged, “Apologize!”
Savannah wailed, “Evelyn! I’m sorry! I was impulsive! I threw stones at you! I just wanted to vent for Caleb! Evelyn! Please forgive me!”
Evelyn’s voice was calm, “That apology sounds insincere.”
“Ms. Savannah, start again.” The officer reset the count to 25. Caleb had to re–record the video.
Savannah angrily retorted, “I don’t know what to say!”
Richard roared, “Say it! Or I’ll break your tailbone!”
Savannah was close to fainting. She couldn’t stop her father’s blows. She cried out, her face contorted, sweat and dirt mixing on her skin.
“Alex, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to hurt you!““Evelyn, I’m sorry! I was foolish. I won’t do it again!”
She felt torn, forced to speak insincere words. Evelyn directed her, “Tell the camera everything you did to me and Alex.”

She chose to plead, hoping for pity. Tommy, listening to her heart–wrenching apology, felt shocked. He saw Evelyn completely dominating Savannah. Savannah wasn’t as powerful as he’d thought. He looked at Evelyn with fear.
“Mr. Reed, you can let go now, and remember to send the video.”
Caleb frowned.“Do you really need to go this far?”
Evelyn tilted her head, looking at him calmly.“Mr. Reed, you don’t have to send this video.” He dared not try.
Caleb drew a breath.“Savannah already knows she’s
wrong. She’s your sister, stop bullying her.” Eric snatched the phone.“Why are you hesitating? Just send it!” He knew Caleb would be punished again if he delayed.
