Chapter 112: Evelyn, Don’t Touch Around
Evelyn’s face burned. Hearing the sound of squeezing shower gel, she couldn’t help but wonder where Damon was washing. His voice, sensual and low, filled the bathroom,
“What is it?”
She grabbed onto her remaining composure.“My friend, Celia, is returning next week. You know her, she’s my navigator. I’d like to borrow the Corona, is that alright? Damon readily agreed.“Sure. Can the former Chase Moon Club owner pick her up at the
rport?”
Evelyn laughed.“Of course.”
Suddenly, she heard Damon’s soft gasp. Turning to look at her phone, she saw his wet face on the screen. Water trickled down his neck.
Terrified, she almost dropped her phone.“Sorry, I wanted to hang up but my hands are wet, I pressed the wrong button.”
Frank driving, heard Damon’s voice. He asked, “What’s wrong?”
Evelyn hastily replied, “Nothing!”
“Oh!” A “thump” sounded; the phone fell, the front camera now showing a strong, well–defined–thigh. Water blurred the lens.
Evelyn hurriedly closed her eyes, mentally chanting “don’t look.” Her fingers tapped randomly on the screen.
Damon saw the fingers on the screen. His voice was like a feather against her ear.“Evelyn, don’t touch around.”
Her face was flushed crimson. Frank stopped at a red light, glancing at her. She instinctively hid her phone. It felt like she was having an affair in front of Frank. She was embarrassed.
Frank’s voice was low.“What are you talking about with Damon that I can’t hear?”
Evelyn shook her head frantically.“Nothing, Big Brother, focus on driving!” She hid her phone. Peeking at the screen, she saw Damon had hung up. Relieved, she slumped back.
Damon, in the bathroom, bit his finger, barely suppressing a laugh.
Frank’s car pulled up to Eric’s residence. Evelyn got out, gently waking Lily and Alex. They were still drowsy.
Frank said, “Let me.” He easily lifted Lily, but when he reached for Alex, the boy opened his eyes, startled. Frank withdrew his hand, setting Lily down.
“He’s scared of me,” Frank said, looking like a nervous dog.
Evelyn got into the car, her voice soft.“Alex, let me hold you, okay?”
Alex leaned towards her, snuggling into her arms as she carried him out of the car. He smelled her scent and clung to her, his small arms around her neck.
The servants, seeing Evelyn holding Alex, widened their eyes. He was afraid of people and avoided physical contact. He rarely interacted with anyone except Eric, yet he was comfortable with Evelyn. Was his autism improving?

“Is Young Master asleep? Shall I hold him?” a servant asked.
Evelyn shook her head.“No, he’s awake but not fully alert.” She gently patted his back.“Let him
L rest against me a while.”
Lily, carried by Frank yawned and woke up. Evelyn set Alex on the sofa, wiping his face and hands with wet wipes. Her long hair cascaded down as she gently cleaned him. Alex’s dark eyes, like

“Sir is here,” a servant announced.
Alex quickly withdrew his hand. Evelyn turned to see Eric arriving in his electric wheelchair. He

She always thought Eric looked best in white; it seemed no dirt could stain him. He was like a majestic, snow–covered mountain, inspiring awe and reverence.
Eric’s gaze met Frank’s, assessing the intruder. Frank in a black coat and shirt, his muscles bulging beneath it, stood like a guardian beside Evelyn, exuding a strong presence, eyeing Eric warily. Eric was undoubtedly one of Frank’s most disliked people; their first separation had been because of him. Frank after his discharge from the military, had arrived in Beijing to find Evelyn and his second most hated person: Caleb. Caleb’s so–called “care” was keeping Evelyn confined in a gilded cage.
A cold mockery flickered in Frank’s eyes.“I’m here for dinner, Mr. Reed wouldn’t mind an extra pair of chopsticks, would he?”
