Chapter 124: Are You Luna?
“Luna! So happy to see you!” Tommy’s bright voice rang out, but his cheerful expression froze as he saw who was in the room.
Evelyn was about to enter the changing room when she made eye contact with Tommy. His excitement vanished, replaced by
stony stare.“What are you doing here?! Savannah and Tommy were followed by a throng of people. The photographers trained their lenses on Evelyn and Celia. Celia, slightly panicked by the crowd, edged closer to Evelyn. “Evelyn, what are you doing in Luna’s room?!” Savannah’s voice rose in shock
Tommy stared at Celia, his eyes wide.“Are you Luna?” He scratched his head, confused. Celia, in loose–fitting charcoal gray athletic wear, was tall and androgynous, with sharp features and very short hair. Most people mistook her for a boy.
Clutching Evelyn’s sleeve, Celia shook her head.“I’m not Luna.”
Savannah narrowed her eyes, studying Celia, who was practically pressed against Evelyn. The person looked familiar.
Then she remembered seeing this “man” seven years ago! After discovering Evelyn was her sister, she’d followed her–both personally and through hired investigators–several times. She’d discovered Evelyn had a childhood sweetheart who, by some stroke of luck, became Luna’s navigator. After becoming famous, he’d left Evelyn and gone abroad–a fact Savannah had gleefully celebrated.
Later, she heard Caleb mention hiring Celia as a racing coach. She was both intrigued and scornful of Evelyn’s lowly “childhood sweetheart.”
Arms crossed, Savannah eyed them both with malicious intent. “Evelyn, this is Luna’s room! You’re here with Luna’s navigator! How is Luna supposed to race?”
Her photographers sensed a juicy scoop. They knew Evelyn was Caleb’s ex–wife. Her meeting_ with the navigator in the athlete’s lounge, caught by her own son…
The men behind Savannah smirked, anticipating the drama. Tommy, still unable to find Luna, found Evelyn increasingly annoying.
“This is Luna’s room! Get out!” He pointed at Evelyn, his furrowed brow and pursed lips miniature Caleb.
Celia’s expression hardened at the sight of Tommy’s face.“Dog Reed’s kid?” She looked at Evelyn.“He’s… your son?” She wasn’t sure, given his aggressive behavior towards Evelyn.
Evelyn replied softly, “Not anymore.” She’d only told Celia she’d divorced and taken only her daughter, leaving her son with the Reed family.
Celia understood.“You should leave! Unauthorized entry to Luna’s room isn’t allowed!”
Tommy, hands on hips, puffed out his chest. “I’m friends with Luna!”
Evelyn smiled.“Do you know what she looks like?”
Tommy’s face fell. He pouted.“I’ll find out today! If she wins, she can be my new mommy!” He knew this would sting Evelyn. He wanted to hurt her. The closest people know how to inflict the deepest wounds. A country bumpkin like Evelyn, clueless about racing, didn’t deserve to be the mother of a Reed family heir.

Tommy, what if *I* win?” Savannah’s eyes narrowed, a cold smile spreading across her face. Tommy’s words had annoyed her. She’d poured her heart out for him, invested heavily in their relationship. But the mention of Luna made him forget his promise to be her new mommy. The incident at the Cloud Pasture had shattered his image of her as a strong, invincible figure. Who gets spanked by their dad? Even he only got his hands slapped. Savannah’s crying, drooling apology… it was too much for him. The next morning, she’d been unconscious. Seeing her swollen face and eyes, dragged up from the slope by Caleb’s men… He didn’t want to admit he knew her. He desperately wanted a strong, capable mommy.
Tommy avoided her gaze.“If Sis wins… I’ll consider it…” His voice trailed off. Savannah’s smile widened.“Evelyn, you should leave. If staff find out you’re here unauthorized, you’ll be kicked out. It’ll be a spectacle!”
Evelyn’s gaze fell on Savannah’s legs.“I admire your thick skin.”
Savannah’s legs and bottom ached at the reminder. The heavy makeup couldn’t completely hide the mosquito bites on her face and swollen eyelids. Last week, because Evelyn had called the police, she’d been detained. To shorten her sentence, she’d contacted Evelyn through Caleb, only to be given the terrible advice to make a public apology video. She’d even had her parents beg for likes.
The apology video remained pinned to her Moments. The police were watching her. Her carefully cultivated connections, ruined. Her years of savings, gone. Rage and resentment consumed her.
Celia picked up her phone and called.“Someone’s in Luna’s room, disrupting her preparations. Please come to the room immediately.”
Savannah’s face lit up.
The staff arrived.“They’re messing around
in Luna’s room! Get them out!”
“Ms. Hayes, this is Luna’s private room. Please leave.”
Savannah grinned, smugly awaiting the staff’s intervention.
