“Aah!” Savannah cried out from behind Caleb.
He turned to see her sprawled on the floor. Her hair was disheveled, her eyes were pleading.

“Throw it away,” his voice was icy.
“Okay!” She made a throwing motion towards the window, secretly slipping it into her pocket. Study room, Reed residence.
Caleb sat at his desk, reviewing Evelyn’s medical records. His eyes fell on the words ‘pregnancy termination“. He felt a crushing weight in his chest, as if drowning. He could almost hear at frantic heartbeat, then its abrupt silence. A phantom blade pierced his heart, causing him to double over in a spasm of pain.
His phone rang and his hand trembled as he reached for it. His face was as impassive as ancient

payment schedule for the divorce settlement.”
The secretary hesitated. Mr. Reed, the agreement states you’re to pay her sixty million…”
“Pay her.” His tone was unyielding. She was from a modest background; she couldn’t handle that much money. He believed she’d come back to him soon.
Evelyn parked her car. Her bank account showed a deposit of sixty million dollars half their harital assets. Caleb had made far more in seven years, but if she’d taken half of that, she’d likely have ended up in jail.
She also received the deed to a desirable house. She needed to find a school for Lily. She planned to collect information before making a decision.
Her stock market prediction program indicated a significant rise in the coming month. She planned to put this money in the stock market for half a month. But her social circle was limited; she couldn’t trust anyone completely.
She pulled out Damon Sterling’s card.
In the office, Damon leaned back in his chair, his deep–set eyes assessing the lawyer opposite
him.
“I wonder if
you wrote this report with your feet.”
“If the chicken could type, you’d be fired right now!”
Chency was crimson–faced, wishing he could disappear.

Damon turned to the intern. “I laughed out loud when I read the information you put together. Are you sure you want to be a lawyer instead of a comedian?!”
The, intern looked like she was about to cry.

Damon said, “Go and sort out the rest files. I need something to make me laugh.” His phone rang; it was an unfamiliar number. He planed to ignore it but then he recognized the number. He didn’t save it because he didn’t want to get her into trouble.
He took a deep breath before answering. Chency tensed, noticing his seriousness. “Hello?” His deep, magnetic voice filled Evelyn’s car. The intern was stunned by the change in his attitude.
“Mr. Sterling, it’s Evelyn Reed. I’m calling for a favor.”
lis voice was warm and gentle.
“Mrs. Reed, you’ve decided to hire me?”
“I’ve finalized the divorce agreement with Caleb Reed.”
Damon’s lips curved into a smile. Evelyn explained concisely, “I need a reliable broker. Do you know anyone?”
Damon readily agreed.“Yes, I’ll have a Taylor Securities client.
manager call you.
Evelyn thanked him politely. Damon casually mentioned, “My father is not feeling well recently. He mentioned your name in his sleep the other day.”
Evelyn’s heart sank. “May I visit Professor Sterling tomorrow?”
“Let me check.”
Chency saw Damon cancel several meetings on his iPad. Moments later, he said, “I’m free tomorrow. Call me before you go to him.”
“Okay.“Her voice was melodious. His smile broadened.
After hanging up, Damon saved her number with the contact name “Little Moon“.
