“I heard the Reeds invested sixty million at Huatai Securities.”
They were well–informed; Evelyn’s large trade hadn’t gone unnoticed. All eyes turned to
aleb.He was taken aback; he thought Evelyn had just gotten lucky.
He sat back casually, saying indifferently, “My wife got lucky.“He suspected Evelyn had overheard. some insider information while in his study.Otherwise, why would she risk everything on the market? But market fluctuations were temporary; whether she’d profit was uncertain.Based on her… cleaning lady perspective…
He found it amusing.
Evelyn’s words echoed in his head:““I have the sixty million and the property you gave me. Don’t worry about me, ex–husband!”
Did she think everything was hers? The money, the property, the options – he could reclaim it all anytime!
Someone cautiously asked, “I heard you two are divorced?”
Caleb’s face hardened.“She’s just being dramatic, a some fun. Once she’s done, she’ll come back.”
They laughed, “Caleb spoils his wife, excessively!”

Savannah exclaimed, “Women are so emotional! If I had such a great husband, I wouldn’t be so dramatic! Alright, let’s forget about women.Let’s drink, guys!“She raised her glass.
Caleb’s phone rang again.
“Sir, Tommy refuses to go to his extracurricular activities. He hasn’t done his homework, and hist tutor is gone.”
Davis had called Helen, who said the tutors were at fault and would find new ones. But during this gap, she and the other staff had to supervise Tommy’s homework. He’d thrown things, hitting Davis in the head.If she told Helen, she’d lose her job.She called Caleb for help. “I want to go to the amusement park! Take me to the amusement park!!“Tommy’s angry came through the phone.
Caleb’s face turned cold.“Let Tommy answer the phone!”

Savannah said, “I’ll talk to him. “She took the phone. Tommy’s reluctant voice said, “Hello, Dad…” “Tommy, it’s me.”
“Say!” His voice instantly brightened.
Savannah coaxed him, “Do your homework, okay? In an hour, I’ll take you out.“She offered activities his mother wouldn’t: racing, shooting, rollercoasters, burgers, chips, soda. She even took
him to bars.
“Yay! Say, I’ll wait!”
He hung up happily. Savannah gave Caleb a triumphant look. See? Your son listens to me!”
Caleb cautioned, “Don’t let him do anything dangerous.”
“I know! Tommy needs me to become a real man!”
Evelyn returned to the gym.Lily, in pink gloves and pigtails, was rhythmically hitting the punching bag; the coach, holding the bag, was struggling to keep his balance. He was drenched int

gasped, “Are you okay?Need a break?”
Lily, not even sweating, said, “I can do a hundred more! One, two, three!” Her voice was strong and clear.
An hour later, the coach lay on the floor, exhausted. Evelyn approached, intending to ask how Lily was doing, but instead asked, “Coach, are you okay?”
His
eyes were glazed over. “What do you feed her? Protein powder?”
She only eats simple, healthy food.”
Evelyn asked, “Is Lily suitable for boxing?”
He lay on the floor, staring at the ceiling, raising a trembling arm, holding up two fingers.
“Two out of ten?” Evelyn was worried.
“Send her to the city team after two more se
I can’t teach her anything more!”
That afternoon, a black motorcycle roared to a stop outside the gym. Tommy, peeking from under his helmet, saw Evelyn and Lily leaving. Lily was still energized, punching the air.
Tommy saw him.“What are you doing here?”
Savannah’s triumphant voice answered, “Your mommy’s cleaning at your uncle’s gym. Didn’t you know?“She’d come to watch Evelyn mop the floor.Unfortunately, they were too late.
But Evelyn looked so… pathetic, makeup–free, in her inexpensive workout clothes, her hair damp with sweat. To Savannah, it was the picture of a tired cleaner.
“I only have one uncle, Uncle Lance, the CEO of Jiang Corporation!” Tommy protested. He understood the hierarchy of jobs and family.
“Uncle Lance is amazing!” Lily said. Tommy shouted, “Grandma said you and I are different now! You have poor relatives; I don’t!”
He urged Savannah, “Sav, let’s go! I don’t want a cleaner for a mom! It’s embarrassing!” Savannah, hiding her triumphant grin behind her helmet, started the engine.“Hold on tight! Sav’s taking you for a treat!”
“Tommy! You’re being mean!” Lily shouted, running after them. Savannah sped away. Lily turned, worried, to her mother.“Mommy, don’t be mad…”
Evelyn shook her head.“I’m not. Tommy’s getting what he wants.” It was the carefree life he craved. The price? He’d learn soon enough.
That night, Caleb was awakened by frantic knocking.
