Chapter 52: Irresistible
“Full throttle, left turn.”
“Right three, downhill approaching, ease off the gas!”
Though Luna had memorized the course as best she could, the speed of the race left no room for thought.Shane was her brain. His concise instructions painted a 3D model of the treacherous Zhongxiu Mountain course in her mind. He was the conductor orchestrating her every move. “Damon! Go get
o get ‘em!” Sean yelled, noticing Damon accelerating. She’d long since forgotten the course notes, tossed aside somewhere. She was simply along for the ride, Damon needing no co–pilot. He relied solely on his intuition. He’d helped design the course, knowing its intricacies. better than anyone.
The Black Hole, initially in the second pack, fell behind as the Solar Flare executed a near–perfect U–turn drift. Damon’s dark eyes widened. He’d seen the Solar Flare compete before. He knew its original owner only as Luna, a mysterious female racer. Despite investigations, he’d never learned her real name or seen a picture. He’d never imagined facing her in a race.

*“Bro, you gotta get Luna onto our team! I want to be her apprentice!” Willow’s voice echoed in memory. When he’d finally tracked down Luna, she was about to retire. The Solar Flare went up for auction, and Damon had attended, intending to buy it.But another bidder drove up the price sky-high.As a businessman, even his passion for racing couldn’t justify overpaying. He bowed out. The winning bidder?Shane, somehow managing to recruit Luna five years later. The man was a formidable opponent.
Damon’s focus sharpened, his speed increasing.Sean felt the shift, recognizing his intent. The Solar Flare had ignited his competitive spirit. He was a lion, hunting its prey. Then they entered the Black Zone a section of the course deliberately devoid of lights. Towering trees blocked out even the faintest sunlight.
“Damon, turn on your headlights!” Sean urged, but Damon remained resolute.None of the drivers switched on their lights.Headlights would give away their position.Damon had the course memorized, relying

“Three hundred meters right, four hundred meters left, left three over the crest, three hundred meters after the crest, sharp turn.”
In the Solar Flare, Luna and Shane were one.Shane called the shots, Luna executed. flawlessly. He’d mentally mapped the entire track.
“The road ahead is clear, Luna.Go for it!”
Without headlights, the Solar Flare sped through the darkness, its driver implicitly trusting her co–pilot. Finally, daylight broke.
The roar of engines grew louder. The crowd craned their necks, anticipation rising. The large screen behind the stands was black, adding to the suspense. No one knew who would emerge first.
Timmy perched on the railing, his eyes glued to the horizon Suddenly, a dark car appeared, and the screen lit up, erupting in cheers and screams.

It was the Solar Flare, taking the lead. The Black Hole was a close second. “Luna! Dad!!” Timmy shouted, his voice cracking with excitement. He clasped his hands, praying for victory for both.
The light illuminated Damon’s dark eyes. The Solar Flare was in sight, igniting his competitive fire. He’d faced immense pressure in business, never showing emotion. But this race had pushed his adrenaline to the limit. His usual self–control shattered; the primal instinct to conquer took over.He was a predator, focused on his prey.
But they were less than two kilometers from the finish line.
Whoosh!” The Solar Flare crossed the finish line, the crowd erupting in a thunderous roar.Confetti rained down like golden showers.
“Wow!!!” Timmy’s jaw dropped. He clutched his chest, feeling a surge of admiration for Luna and the Solar Flare.Luna had beaten his father. She was his new hero.
The Black Hole pulled over. Damon removed his helmet, unzipped his racing suit, but lacked the strength to unbuckle his harness. He slumped back in his seat, gasping for air.His heart pounded, the thrill of the race still coursing through his veins. He hadn’t felt this alive in ages. Sean turned to see Damon drenched in sweat. His hair was plastered to his forehead, sweat dripping down his chiseled jawline. His usually impassive features were flushed, a mix of exhilaration and exhaustion. She’d never seen him this spent. His ragged breaths were strangely alluring, the intense hormones filling the confined space.Sean felt her own breath quicken. This Damon, raw and vulnerable, was captivating. She felt an overwhelming urge to kiss him. Leaning in, she was suddenly jolted by a gust of cold wind. She snapped out of her daze, seeing Damon already exiting the car.
“Damon!” she called, but he didn’t turn.He walked towards the Solar Flare, helmet in hand.
