Chapter 16
“And you!” I glared at Olivia. “Charles doesn’t remember because he has no heart. What about you? There are plenty of other rags, why did you choose the one with my name on it? Can you honestly say it wasn’t intentional?”
“Ah,I really didn’t look carefully.” Olivia said apologetically, but her face showed a hint of a smile. “If I’d known it was your mom’s keepsake,I wouldn’t have used it as a rag. Oh,I think I first used it as a foot rag…”
I could no longer tolerate it and slapped her across the face.
“Ah! Charles.save me!”
A sharp pain shot through my scalp, and before I could react,I was forcefully shoved, and the flowerpot I was holding shattered into pieces.
Charles bypassed me and hugged the crying Olivia.
“Charlotte Edwards, what’s wrong with using the keepsake your murderer mother left behind as a rag?”
My mind exploded.
I clenched the handkerchief in one hand and a sharp piece of broken flowerpot in the other. My thoughts narrowed to a single impulse.
“Die… all of you,die!”
Before I could lose control and rush at them,a figure was faster than me.
Through my blurry vision,I saw him kick Charles far away.
The sound of Olivia’s scream and fists landing on flesh echoed in my ears, pulling me out of my extreme emotions.
I rubbed my eyes, and my vision slowly cleared.
A few steps away,Rogerio was holding Charles down and beating him.
Charles wasn’t weak, but in front of Rogerio,he couldn’t even defend himself.
I stood there frozen for a while, finally realizing what was happening.
“Rogerio, stop!” I rushed up and hugged the enraged man.
Rogerio was still seething, breathing heavily as his eyes narrowed on Charles.
“Which hand did you use to hit her?”
Charles hadn’t yet recovered from the terror of being completely suppressed by Rogerio.
Even though he had heard of Rogerio ‘s reputation, only when he personally experienced it did he realize the

rumors weren’t exaggerated at all.
“President White,” Charles’s lips were bruised.“Invading my home and assaulting ine, isn’t that a bit too much?”
“This is too much?” Rogerio exuded murderous intent.his dark brows furrowing fiercely like the King of Hell.
“I’ll show you what real violence is.”
He glanced at the row of black–clad bodyguards standing by the door. “Disable his hand.”
Charles tried to keep his composure. “London is a city of law. Don’t do anything reckless.”
“You’re a man of status,but for Charlotte Edwards,this second–hand item isn’t worth it.”
A bald bodyguard slid a short knife out from his sleeve, and just as he was about to strike,Charles panicked.
“Charlotte Edwards,stop him!”
His shout finally snapped me out of my daze.
“Rogerio,don’t.”
Rogerio lowered his eyes to look at me,his expression full of stubborn disapproval.
I took a deep breath,my voice emotionless as I looked at Charles.
“You saved me,but you also hurt me. After today,we’re even.”
Charles’s expression faltered for a moment,as if he hesitated.
Rogerio signaled to his bodyguard, who promptly brought over the divorce agreement.
He had prepared it all in advance.
“Sign it.” Rogerio ‘s voice brooked no argument.
A pen was forced into Charles’s hand, and a bodyguard pressed down on his shoulder, forcing him toward the table.
Before him was the divorce agreement, and Charles froze, gripping the pen over the paper.
“Charlotte Edwards, you really want to divorce me?”
I looked at him,as if gazing at an irretrievable river of time.
“Charles,I don’t owe you anymore.”
“Let’s part on good terms, at least that’s fair to the love we once had.”
Charles was about to slam his hand on the table, but a strong bodyguard pressed him down again.
“Fine,you’re doing great.”

Charles signed his name forcefully as if in revenge
“Charlotte Edwards listen up.L.Charles will never go down the same path again.”
I took the agreement and let out a long breath. “How coincidental. I feel the same way,”
I folded the handkerchief my mother had embroidered and put it in my pocket, then picked up the broken succulent from the floor.
Finally I looked back at Charles for the last time.
“Remember to remove the fingerprints I left on the door. And Olivia,if you don’t want things to get too ugly.you should step forward and admit to your theft.”
In the car on the way back.Rogerio held my hand tightly.
I noticed the dark look on his face and couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. “Rogerio, you don’t need to worry about me. I can handle this.”
“…You can handle it?” Rogerio suddenly turned over and trapped me in his arms. “If I had been a moment late.were you planning to face Charles on your own?”
“Rebecca,do you know how scared I was when I saw you grab the porcelain shard?”
