Charles was the first to spot me.
His eyes lit up instantly, and he quickly walked over holding a bunch of Louis XIV roses.
“Charlotte Edwards. I didn’t expect your dance to be this good…”
Charles handed the flowers to me.
“Congratulations.”
I glanced behind him at Olivia,who was glaring at me with a venomous look,and smiled,
“What’s this? Realizing you can’t cover up the truth,are you planning to try the reconciliation tactic with me?”
Charles’s smile froze for a moment. “Charlotte Edwards, I’m sincerely congratulating you. Can you not be so sharp with your words?”
“Don’t Mr. Carter’s congratulations are too much for me to bear.”
“…” Charles was rarely taken aback by my sharpness. “Charlotte Edwards, these Louis XIV roses were air–shipped just for you. You wanted them before,right?”
I paused for a moment.recalling that I had indeed mentioned them to him.
Back then, I had a performance where I was the main lead,and Olivia was just a background dancer.
After the performance,someone brought a grand bouquet of Louis XIV roses to the stage and handed it to Olivia,right in front of me.
That day,all the media outlets were busy reporting about Olivia,and I became a background figure in her spotlight..
At that time,I had no idea that Olivia was Charles’s mistress. When I went home,I complained about it to him.
His expression was rather displeased,accusing me of being like a jealous woman.
I felt guilty after hearing that and reflected on myself,thinking I was being too petty.
Because of this,I even helped Olivia with some resources afterward.
It wasn’t until later that I learned that the Louis XIV roses, which caused such a media sensation,were actually the flowers Charles had laid out for her,stepping over me to make her shine.
“Yeah,” I said with a self–mocking smile, “The silly me,waiting for your attention,was such a fool.”
Charles noticed the eyes of people around us and became somewhat uncomfortable. “Charlotte Edwards,I’ve already apologized,what more do you want? Does admitting I was wrong kill you?”

Without further explanation.he tried to shove the roses into my hands.
“Take them. When the media comes you don’t have to explain anything. Just stand there and smile”
“Are you daring to make me accept an interview from the media?” I looked at him provocatively.
Charles smiled indulgently.
“Charlotte Edwards,don’t be foolish. I know you’re the type who won’t turn back until you’ve hit the wall. I gave you some time to figure things out.”
“You see now,Rogerio is just using you for entertainment. He won’t stay for you.”
“Otherwise, with the uproar this time,why hasn’t he responded at all?”
“I’ve told you before,there is no man who doesn’t cheat. You need to get used to it.”
“Besides,in this world, the only one who can still tolerate you is me.”
“Really?” I raised my eyebrow and glanced behind Charles. “Rogerio,how did I dance today?”
“This dance is meant for heaven; vile people are unworthy of admiring it.”
Rogerio,holding a bouquet of priceless Juliet roses,walked towards me amid envious stares.
At that moment, I realized that each rose petal held a large diamond.
So extravagant!
I casually threw the Louis XIV roses Charles had forced on me into the trash can and delicately accepted the Juliet roses. “Thank you,Rogerio.”
Charles clenched his teeth,visibly enraged. “Charlotte Edwards!”
“Why are you barking?” Rogerio snapped,“Having a rabies attack? Do you need me to call 999?”
It was the first time I saw Rogerio being so sharp–tongued,and I was both surprised and intrigued.
I looked up at Rogerio,who chuckled and gently rubbed my cheek. “Shall we go for a meal?”
“Mm,I’m starving.” I naturally linked my arm with Rogerio ‘s.
Charles suddenly exploded,“Charlotte Edwards,you’re not allowed to leave!”
I turned back to look at him.
“The one–month cooling–off period ends tomorrow. I’ll be waiting for you at the Civil Affairs Bureau.”
Charles clenched his lips tightly, trying to suppress his anger.
“Fine,I’ll wait. Just don’t be late!”

Charles stubbornly believed that I couldn’t let go of this marriage.
But who would stay in the same place forever,waiting for a cold glance?
The next day,I arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau early since it was still closed.
Rogerio insisted on staying with me,but I persuaded him to go back to the car.
“Rogerio.Charles is like a stubborn gum,and I don’t want him sticking to you.”
“Besides,we did love each other once,let me say my final goodbye to him.”
Before I completely erased him from my memory,I wanted to leave this relationship with some dignity.
However, when Charles showed up with Olivia,he drained the last shred of my hope.
“What’s this? Weren’t you just diamonds and roses yesterday? Why are you alone today?”
Charles’s expression was one of unmistakable arrogance.
