Chapter 7
The papers fluttered to the ground. Someone picked one up and glanced at it.
“This actually looks legit… Charles,is this real?”
Charles’s voice was indifferent.
“Just a cheap old trick.”
He was convinced that I was merely throwing a tantrum.
He was certain I wouldn’t leave.
All my struggles,my desperate cries, were nothing but petty dramatics in his eyes.
Even now,the way he looked at me held nothing but thinly veiled mockery.
“Charlotte Edwards,I suggest you stop before you make a fool of yourself.”
A deep exhaustion crept over me.
When a flower withers, even if it blooms again,it’s no longer the same flower.
People are no different.
I turned to leave.
Crash-
The sound of a glass shattering rang out behind me.
“Charlotte Edwards, think carefully–once you step out of here, who would want you? Who would even dare to?”
I wasn’t sure what my face looked like at that moment, but judging by the sudden silence in the crowd,it must have
been awful.
My vision blurred. Charles’s figure twisted into a monstrous shadow before my eyes.
Once again,I felt my soul plummeting into the abyss.
The last time,Charles had caught me.
This time,he was the one who pushed me in.
I bit down on my lip so hard that the taste of blood filled my mouth.
“Oh,Charles, look, isn’t this the glass Charlotte Edwards drank from? But… it doesn’t smell like alcohol.”

Chapter 7
The liquor had been poured in front of Charles Olivin’s necusation was an obvious lie
Yet.Charles believed her.
Like he had finally found an excuse, he stepped forward and grabbed my wrist.
“Charlotte Edwards, you’ve really disappointed me. Apologize to Olivia.”
Ilis voice was cold and impatient
The alcohol was wreaking havoc on my system. My vision split into countless overlapping images.
I struggled to move, the only thought left in my mind escape,
But Charles wouldn’t let me go.
Pain shot through my forearm. Compared to his strength,my resistance was laughable.
I let out a gasp.and Charles’s grip only tightened.
“You think I’ll fall for your little tricks again?”
“I’m telling you, tonight, you’re going on that stage–whether you like it or not.”
Olivia giggled. “Charles,my performance requires big movements. Charlotte Edwards’s dress is too long,it might get in the way… If she’s not changing.maybe we should just–cut off half of it?”
Charles hesitated only for a moment.
“Fine.”
“Hold her down!”
Hands reached out toward me from all directions.
I was terrified. I wanted to scream,to fight back, but at this moment, I was nothing more than a fish out of water–desperately thrashing, powerless against the inevitable.
No-! I screamed in my mind.
“Ah!”
A sharp cry rang out.
“What the hell?!”
“Who the f*ck-”
One by one,the curses turned into gasps.
Suddenly,my body felt light.

Then,I fell into the embrace of someone with a faint scent of sandalwood.
I struggled to lift my eyelids. In the haze of my vision,I barely caught sight of a cuff adorned with diamond studs.
“Which blind fool dares to touch my-”
The man who had been holding me down turned, furious–only to meet a pair of cold, pitch–black eyes.
The rest of his words died in his throat.
The man holding me was at least 6’3 tall, exuding an aura of pure dominance.
His face was striking–razor–sharp brows slanting into his temples, long lashes casting deep shadows over his icy
gaze.
His lips were pressed into a thin line, his entire demeanor radiating an unapproachable chill.
His features were undeniably handsome, but the air around him was dark and suffocating, keeping everyone at a wary distance.
But the first thing Charles noticed wasn’t his presence–it was his status.
Behind the man stood a full circle of black–suited bodyguards, each one tall, imposing, and leagues above your average security personnel.
And standing by the man’s right side was an elderly figure Charles recognized–Elder Adams.
The same Elder Adams whom he had tried countless times to meet, only to be turned away.
The old man, with his head of silver hair, stood slightly hunched over, gripping his cane with both hands in an unmistakably submissive posture.
Charles had never seen him bow to anyone before.
A bad feeling crept into his chest as he looked at the man holding me. His voice carried a cautious edge.
“This gentleman… may I ask your name?”
The man, towering over Charles, looked down at him with thinly veiled disdain.
“A group of people ganging up to bully a woman–aren’t you ashamed?”
Charles kept his face neutral. “This is a misunderstanding. She asked to stay and perform. After all, this is a rare opportunity to gain fame.”
The man’s lips curled into a mocking smile.
“A lie so bad, even the liar himself wouldn’t believe it.”
