Chapter 99
“Is everything ok?”
I sigh and look forward out onto the field where I used to watch Damion practice, “Not. really, but I think I’ll start crying if I talk about it. And I’m not a very pretty cryer, so you
should distract me.”
He laughs a little and look forward, “That bad?”
I nod as my eyes tear up.
“Hey. Don’t cry. Come here.” Alex says as he extended his arm around me so that I can move closer.
I let out a sob and bury my face in his shoulder. His arms wrap around me and I let everything go that I have been holding in. All the pain and sadness.
I cry until I have nothing left, and then just keep hugging him because it makes me feel less
alone.
“Do you want to tell me what’s going on since you already cried?” He asks.
I laugh a little and nod. “M–me and Damion… broke up.” I feel him stiffen, but he doesn’t say anything for a few moments.
“What happened?”
I open my mouth, but close it when I realize I can’t even tell him. Once, it’s not my secret to tell. Two, that could hurt Damion and all my friends. Three, he would think I was crazy.
“We just… had a fight because he lied to me about something important.” Is all I can say. It technically is the truth, but I
It a lot out. And for good reason. I can’t imagine how that
conversation would go.
“I’m sorry.”
Chapter 97
I nod. “Me too.”
“Do you love him?”
My lip starts to wobble as my eyes tear up. “Yeah. I do. I think that’s why it hurts so bad.”
He hugs me a little tighter and I welcome the feeling of comfort. I’m glad I met Alex, and I’m glad we became friends.
Damion’s POV:
The sunlight shines right in my eyes making me groan.
I sit up and look around to find myself waking up naked in the woods for what feels like the hundredth time. I have been spending most of time in wolf form because it makes the pain in my chest better.
I try and run away from Lee, but somehow I always end up less than a mile from wherever
she is. Sometimes it school, sometimes it her house, sometimes it the library.
Today is school, and I am a lot fucking closer than I thought. Her scent is so close I can
practically taste it.
I walk a little further and peek through the trees. I see the field, and then the bleachers where Lee is sitting with a guy. He is hugging her and shes hugging him back.
I feel my temper rising as I see another guy hugging my girl. The anger turns to sadness as I
continue to look at her. Her face buried in his chest, just like she used to do with me.
She’s already found someone new. Someone better.
I can’t take the pain, so I drop to all fours and let the change rip through me. I run as fast as I can in the opposite direction until I can no longer smell her.
I hear leaves move and I freeze.

Chaplet 91
A familiar scent fills my nostrils, making my guard shoot up.
I get distracted when I see a dandelion and I think of Lee. Everyday Monday I would leave a dandelion on her desk because I knew how much she hated Mondays. Her face would light up when she saw it, as if it was the first time it had happened.
I see the leaves shake again, but I’m too late. I feel a throbbing pain on my side making me whisper and fall on my side. I quickly get up. When I do I see that same black wolf.
He lunges at means we roll around while snapping our jaws at each other. I manage to sink my teeth into his neck making him howl in pain.
He knows I am stronger right now, so he runs away. Leaving me a bloody mess. I fight the urge to just lay down and sleep, because if I know I do I won’t wake up and I couldn’t imagine never seeing Lee again.
I start doing a slow jog back to my house, ignoring the pain in my side that is still dripping
blood.
When I finally make it to my house I put on some basketball short and stumble inside.
My skin is on fire, I am sweating like crazy, and I am dizzy as hell.
I press a hand to my side which has a deep scratch on it. I wince at the pain and try to stay upright.
I hear a gasp, “Damion! What happened?” My mom asks while rushing of to me.
The room starts spinning and I stumble forward, balancing myself on the stairs. My dad comes about halfway down the stairs before stopping and looking at me with wide eyes. When he snaps out of it he surges forward and puts my arm around his neck. He leads me to the couch as I leave a trail of blood.
When I lay down my mom and dad kneel next to me, “What happened? Who did this?”
“R–rogue.” I say tiredly.
