Chapter 124
I feel Alex freeze as he looks at the chaos that surrounds us. Everything seems to go in slow
motion.
This is war.
He’s distracted.
I cock my head back and it hits his face. He releases me and I run to Damion’s arms. I make contact with his body and his arms envelope me. We both breath heavily and embrace each other for a few seconds. Then we pull away and look into the others eyes for a second.
I whip my head around and see Alex fighting with another wolf. That means we have some
time.
“I need you to run.” Damion says as he cups my cheek and turns my face back to him.
I shake my head, “No. I can’t leave you.”
“You have to. I can’t protect myself if I am worried about protecting you.” He argues as he wipes a tear from my cheek.
I know he’s right, but I still hate the idea of leaving and not knowing if he’s ok. This isn’t about me though, it’s about keeping him safe. As long as he’s ok, I’ll be ok.
“Ok. Just don’t leave me.” I beg.
He gives me a pained look and then I grab his face and give him that kiss I thought I wouldn’t have the chance to. My lips mold to his and then I pull away.
“I need you and I love you.” I whisper to him before I start to run across the field.
My adrenaline pumps as I dodge giant wolves and people fighting. Growls, ripping clothes, pain howls, and grunts are all I can hear. I look over and see Blake in his half human, half wolf form pinned under a big brown wolf with glowing yellow eyes.

My legs haven’t stopped running as I look at my best friend fight fo this life.

The wind gets knocked out of me and I fly back. My body hits the ground and then my head follows. My vision blurs as I open my head, and pain fills my head.
I push myself off the ground until I am sitting up. I see figure walking towards me, but I can’t tell who it is.
“You didn’t think I was going to let you miss all the fun did you?” A voice asks.
Alex’s dad. I’d know his voice anywhere.
Oh shit.
Damion’s POV:
Just come back to me.
That’s the only thing that runs through my mind as I see five wolves surround me. My heart is beating in my ears and my wolf is carrying me. Without the instinct to fight and lead, I know I’d run after Lee. I know I would leave my pack to fight this war alone and make sure she was safe.
The black wolf slashes my side with his claws, pain corses through my body but I don’t stop. I push him away and go for the light brown one next. I sink my teeth into his neck and he
howls in pain.
His blood tastes metallicy on my tongue.
I continue to fight them off until I am the last one standing. Well, more like kneeling. Blood
pores from different places on my body and I feel like I might pass out at any moment. I’m too weak to heal quickly.

A blood curdling scream rips through the air and pierces my heart.
“Lee.” I whisper to myself.
I look around the field until I see her pink dress. Alex’s dad is on top of her in full wolf form and he’s is trying to bite her. His teeth are an inch from her face. A look of utter terror is on
her face as she screams.
I will myself to speed across the field towards her.
I need you and I love you.
Her words once again run through my mind as I grab Alex’s dad and throw him off her. He goes flying through the air and lets out a pained whimper as he lands.
“Its ok sweetheart. Its ok. I’m here.” I tell her as she wraps her arms around my neck and
hugs me.
“Hold onto me. I’m gonna get you out of here.
She does as I ask and I lift her up bridal style. I start to run across the field so that I could get her to safety, but I stop when I hear Alex’s voice.
“Stop or he dies.” He yells.
I turn around and hear Lee gasp as we both see a bloody and bruised Warren on his knees, barely awake. His dress clothes are ripped and covered in blood.
Lee’s arms tighten around my neck and my body tenses. Everyone is still fighting around us, but there is a clear line of sight between us.
Alex’s hands snakes around Warren’s neck and his claws dig into his skin. A silent threat.
I feel Lee slip out of my hold until she is standing. My arms hold her waist and I pull her closer to me. Her touch calms me enough to not make the rash decision to run towards Alex and rip his fucking head off.
“Good.” He says.
