Chapter 3
I stepped out of the bathroom with a relaxed expression and asked casually, “When do you
head back to the border battlefield?”
“Just three days from now. There’s a big mission coming up,” he replied.
His eyes were filled with guilt. “Honey, that day is our wedding anniversary. I’m so sorry I can’t be here with you. I know I’ve let you down so many times.‘”
Three days later–it just happened to be the same day I planned to leave.
I rested my hand on my still–flat stomach and smiled faintly. “It’s okay. Just try to
home early. I have a surprise for you.”
come
William smiled warmly and touched my cheek. “I promise I’ll come straight home as soon
as the battle is over.”
I turned my face slightly to the side to hide the coldness in my eyes.
I hoped that by then, he really would be surprised.
William
Early the next morning, got a phone call.
After hanging up, he said, “Honey, there’s a presentation at the army camp today, and Luna is required to attend. Come with me.”
I nodded and followed him to the base.
Normally, as a healer, my identity was kept secret, so no one really knew what I looked like.
That’s why no one recognized me when I arrived..
As we stepped inside, I overheard some soldiers talking.
Where’s the healer? She vanished as soon as we went on leave, not even a single message.”

“What can you do? She’s powerful. So many soldiers rely on her to stay alive. It’s no wonder
she keeps to herself.”
“Did you hear? She joined the army because she has a crush on our Alpha.”
“No way. The Alpha already has Luna. Besides, he has someone else in the camp too…”
“Shhh, stop talking. Luna’s here today.”
I acted like I didn’t hear them, keeping my face calm.
They weren’t wrong. I had chosen the front lines without hesitation because I was afraid for William’s safety.
Over the years, I worked day and night to heal wounded soldiers and even stayed up late handling Luna’s paperwork.
There were times when I pushed myself so hard I almost collapsed.
And while I was working myself to exhaustion, William was secretly with Lucy.
Thinking about it, I couldn’t help but give a bitter smile.
William, with his sharp Alpha hearing, must have heard their whispers.
He glanced at me nervously. When he saw I didn’t react, he seemed a bit relieved.
Raising his voice, he cut off their chatter.
“What are you all standing around for? Luna is here. Show her some respect.”
The soldiers fell silent as we entered. Their eyes were distant, even cold, as they looked at me. None of them spoke first.
It was clear they liked Lucy more than me–a Luna who had never been to war.
At that moment, a sweet voice rang out.

“Sister Caitlin, do you still remember me?”
Lucy walked over, smiling.
She wore a fitted military uniform, but the neckline was left wide open, showing off her
curves and the faint marks on her neck.
Our eyes met, and hers sparkled with smugness and challenge.
Lucy pretended to be shy and said, “Oh, I’m so sorry you had to see this. My love was just
too much last night…”
I turned to William. “Is this how you enforce discipline here?”
William froze, then snapped at Lucy. “Button up your uniform and get out of here!”
Lucy hesitated for a second, then ran off in tears.
The presentation began, and the leaders started giving their speeches.
Not long after, William received a message. He suddenly stiffened and stood up.
Noticing my questioning look, he quickly calmed himself and said, “Honey, I just got an urgent message. I have to handle it right away. Stay here and let me know later if anything important comes up.”
He left the room In a hurry..
Moments later, I received a psychic message.
“Come to the Alpha’s bedroom on the second floor. I bet my body is more suited for him than yours.”
A challenge?
I narrowed my eyes but didn’t move right away.
Outside the room, I overheard whispers. “The Alpha’s really bold, leaving Luna here and

running off to see his lover.”
I smirked.
As a healer, I knew this place like the back of my hand.
Instead of heading to his room, I made my way to the surveillance room and pulled up the
camera feed focused on William’s quarters.
