Chapter 7
Green, with a smug expression, leaned her face against Ryan’s chest.
A cold, victorious smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
North Foster.
Just who did she think she was?
A street vendor, trying to fight for a man against her?
She should take a good look at her own disfigured face in the mirror before competing with me.
What pleased Green even more was that her prestigious, high–ranking uncle had actually agreed to meet her and Ryan.
And the meeting was to be held at the most luxurious restaurant in the city, the Starry Sky
Restaurant.
She thought she had heard wrong.
After all, her father was only a branch of the Nelson family, and she was just her mother’s
stepdaughter who had married into the family.
She wasn’t considered a true Nelson family member.
Normally, she couldn’t even get a glimpse of her uncle’s face.
It was the weekend, the perfect time to catch up on sleep.
But I was woken up from my dream by South Price.
“North, North, wake up!”
I kicked him away, sending him flying two meters.
“Why do you always barge into my room without knocking?”

(South Price climbed back to his feet and pointed toward the foot of my bed.
Look who’s here? It’s your husband!”
I was so startled that I jumped.
Instinctively, I turned my gaze toward the foot of the bed.
In the shabby rental room, with childish pink decorations all around, Gray Nelson stood out like a sore thumb.
He stood there, looking at me.
is beautiful eyes were filled with a faint sinile that didn’t quite reach his lips.
1 gasped in shock, quickly pulling the blanket over my head and muttering.
“South, are you crazy? You didn’t knock and still brought a strange man into my room!”
South looked at me innocently.
“Sis, you’re calling your husband a strange man?”
“I…”
I was momentarily speechless.
A low chuckle came from the foot of the bed.
Gray Nelson took a step forward, tugging the blanket from over my head. His deep voice held a trace.
of softness.
“Madam, which gentleman sleeps in this late on a fine afternoon?”
I clutched the blanket tightly.
Not only was my face scarred and disfigured, but now I had to face him with messy hair, like a

“Mr. Nelson, could you wait outside? I just need to get up for a moment.”
“If you’re tired, you can sleep a little longer.”
“No, it’s fine…”
After Gray left. I quickly got up, washed up, and changed into fresh clothes.
I looked at my face in the mirror.
The scar on my cheek was too obvious–it completely ruined the overall impression.
So, I applied some foundation to even it out.
When I finally walked out of the room, I found Gray Nelson sitting at our cramped dining table, eating fried rice.
He ate gracefully, each movement exuding refinement.
Meanwhile, my enthusiastic father sat beside him, watching as he ate, asking,
“Is it good, son–in–law?”
Gray nodded politely.
My father beamed.
“I told you, daughter’s fried rice is even better than mine! Next time, when son–in–law wants fried rice, you can have her make it.”
“Sure.”
Gray smiled and took another bite.
I walked over, speechless, and took the plate of fried rice from in front of him.
“Dad, why are you making Mr. Nelson eat your fried rice?”
My father was puzzled.
“What’s wrong with my fried rice? It’s clean, hygienic, and the freshest ingredients!”
“No, even if someone wants fried rice, it should be made by a five–star chef, not… well, this.”

And so far, he had kept his word.
Since our marriage, apart from daily video calls, he hadn’t visited me once.
Until now, when he suddenly decided to take me out for a meal
Sitting in his Rolls Royce, I still couldn’t figure out why he had changed his mind.
The silence in the car made the already awkward atmosphere feel even more charged with an ambiguous tension.
I had tried to sit as far from him as possible, but his presence was so overwhelming that it was hard
to ignore.
I needed to break the silence with a conversation.
soon as I saw his handsome face, which carried a certain aloofness even in profile, the words that

My fingers twisted the white fabric of my dress, as each second stretched painfully like a year.
The car had been driving for a while when he suddenly reached out toward me.
