Chapter 5
I decisively moved out of the villa I shared with Tyler Horton and temporarily rented an
apartment.
As expected, Tyler didn’t come looking for me.
t I knew exactly where he was and what he was doing
He was with Sarah Carlisle.
Every day, Sarah sent me photos of the two of them in intimate moments-
in the bedroom, in the kitchen, in the living room.
I felt nothing.
The more she sent, the clearer it became:
She might have Tyler’s body,
but her insecurity about their unsanctioned, secretive relationship was palpable.
I couldn’t help but recall the moment Tyler had slammed my head into the floor.
There was no love left in him for me.
Until the baby was born, I had no intention of entangling myself further with those two
lunatics.
But staying in the apartment wasn’t a long–term solution.
The Hortons wielded considerable power.
Even if I left the city, it wouldn’t take much for them to find me.
Since Sarah wanted so desperately to be Mrs. Horton,
why not lay everything out in the open?

The opportunity presented itself that very day.
Tyler sent me a message:
“Elizabeth, have you thought things through these past few days?
“Today is Sarah’s birthday. If you want to stay by my side, you must accept her.
“Bake her a cake, bring it to the country villa, and apologize.”
Reading the message, I couldn’t help but laugh.
How blind had I been to fall for someone as heartless and fickle as Tyler Horton?
Since he handed me this chance, I would make sure he saw things clearly.
Braving the pouring rain, I stepped outside.
On my way, I bought a large cake and drove to the country villa.
As soon as I got out of the car, the wind tore the umbrella from my hands.
Rain slashed in every direction, drenching me completely in seconds.
But the thought of the confrontation awaiting me filled me with resolve.
Unbothered by the rain, I grabbed the cake and made my way through the downpour into the building
Following Tyler’s instructions, I located the private room.
When I opened the door, the lively group inside immediately stopped their games and turned to stare at me with amused expressions.
A man in a graffiti–print hoodie was the first to laugh.
“Tyler, your wife is so devoted! Look at her–soaked to the bone, and she still brought you a cake!”
The others joined in, their laughter filling the room.

“Haha, yeah, this is what true love looks like!~
Surrounded by the group, Tyler and Sarah both wore smug smiles.
Tyler stood and walked toward me, speaking magnanimously:
“Elizabeth, at least you know your place.
“I’ll let the past go. Now, take the cake to Sarah yourself.”
I smiled at Tyler, lifted the cake lid–which wasn’t tied shut–and slammed the entire thing
into his face.
