Love 4 Chapter he
Love Story4–Chapter 1
“Grandpa, I’ve made up my mind. I agree to the marriage alliance with the Landon family,” Winona said firmly. Although a hint of sadness lingered in her heart, there was more resolve than anything.
On the other end of the phone, the old man immediately shouted with excitement,
“Good, good, good! I knew you’d come to your senses. Luke Landon has gone abroad on a business trip and will be back in half a month. I’ll arrange the wedding for you. Get ready!”
“Okay.” After hanging up the phone, the hospital room was once again eft in silence, with Winona
ing all alone on the bed.
She stared at the saline drip as the drops fell one by one, feeling her heart gradually grow colder.
Yesterday had been her birthday. The two childhood friends had made her a cake. Although it didn’t look great, she treasured it dearly and ate it bite by bite.
After all, after all these years, it was the first time they had made food for her.
But this morning, she suffered from food poisoning, vomiting and diarrhea, almost losing her life.
Winona called her two childhood friends, asking them to take her to the hospital. As soon as they heard, they rushed over to her house. Fortunately, they lived just across the hall, and Winona let out a sigh of relief.
When they entered the door, Jacob was the first to rush over to help her.
“Why is it so serious? What did you eat after yesterday?”
Felix, equally anxious, came over to support her on the other side.
Before she could say that it was just the cake, Felix let go of her and answered a call from a contact
named “Yumiko.”
“Felix, you said you’d give me a surprise today. What is it? I can’t wait to meet you guys,” came the cheerful voice on the other end, filled with eager anticipation.
Jacob and Felix froze at the same time, both letting go of her.
Winona, weak from the poisoning, nearly collapsed.

Felix, as though he hadn’t noticed her struggling, spoke in a strange tone. “Winn, If you don’t want us to go to Yumiko’s birthday party, just say so. There’s no need to use such a method.”
Jacob immediately turned cold,
“Winona, you ate the cake we made yesterday.
Are you saying you want to blame us for your food poisoning because we used expired ingredients and want us to take care of you, or are you saying you ate something unclean yourself and now need us to look after you?”
At that moment, Winona felt an unfamiliar sense of alienation.
hey had been childhood friends for so long, and in the past, even for a simple cold, they would rush over to take care of her. Even when she had recovered, they would stay an extra day just to look
after her.
But now, when she had really been poisoned, they thought she was lying.
“There’s some Montmorillonite powder in the medicine box. Take some yourself,” Felix said, placing the packet of powder on the coffee table before leaving.
But her condition wasn’t something that a packet of Montmorillonite powder could solve.
Winona felt pain so intense that it was unbearable. She dialed 911 and called an ambulance.
By the time the medical staff arrived, she was weak, barely conscious, and her body was growing
cold.
When she woke up in the hospital bed, the first thing she saw wasn’t a message of concern from her childhood friends.
Instead, it was their cheerful social media posts.
The cake was similar to the one from yesterday, but this time, it was clearly much more exquisite, with a carefully hand–painted greeting card on top.
“Happy birthday to Yumiko, may every year be as wonderful as today.”
“Happy birthday to Yumiko, may every year be like this one.”
They had drawn cartoon versions of themselves and Yumiko, along with the latest luxury necklaces and bags. It was clear they had put a lot of thought into it.
