Back when they were younger, she had told them–no matter what happened, they could stop being
friends, could cut ties, but never call her mean.
It was a word that dredged up terrible memories.
How had they responded back then?
They’d held her arms, brimming with joy: “Wino is the kindest girl I’ve ever met. I’d be crazy to call you anything bad!”
“Whoever dares insult my buddy, I’ll be the first to take them down.”
“Exactly! Don’t worry, we’ll protect you forever.”
The words of youth were beautiful, but not meant to be taken seriously.
She let out a bitter laugh. She almost believed she would spend her life single, just so they could
remain “best friends forever.”

“Why aren’t you saying anything? If you don’t apologize to Miko, you won’t see us again for the next three days.”
“The company stuff, you can handle it yourself. We won’t help you anymore.”
The two men hung up angrily.
Winona looked at the company in front of her.
They still didn’t realize she had already been packing up the company’s things. Since she would be handing it over to her uncle to manage, she had hired a professional CEO and rented an office near her uncle’s company to move into.
The employees had already been relocated there.
As for the two childhood friends….

They had always said they didn’t want to be tied down by the company.
This company had always been something they came and went from freely.

Apart from their monthly salaries, she had even gifted them both an apartment. There was nothing more to be owed.
She finished packing the last of the items, finalized the wedding plan to her satisfaction, and started packing her personal belongings.
Honestly, after twenty years of growing up together, the soft furnishings in the house had all been chosen by the two men.
There wasn’t much left to take, really. After all, the Lego model they’d made together was gone, leaving behind only photos and little trinkets. They no longer held any meaning for her.
She packed all the little handmade gifts and trinkets they had given her into a box neatly.
Once everything was settled, she planned to return all of it to them.
The real estate agent was just bringing potential buyers through the house.
Winona opened the door and showed them around the house.
The buyer commented that the decor was great, and she wouldn’t need to renovate. It was ready to be used as a wedding house.
The agent cheerfully agreed.
When the buyer said they were interested in the property, the agent quickly left to prepare the
contract.
With the house deal wrapped up, Winona was almost ready to return to H city. Her mood had improved significantly.
Since she was getting married, she inevitably talked a bit about the wedding.
She happened to have the wedding plan with her, and decided to share it with the buyer.
As they were chatting enthusiastically, a male voice came from behind her, “Is this the friend you’re marrying?”
Winona turned to see Felix.
The agent had left the door open when they left, and Felix had entered without realizing his fingerprint had been deleted from the security system.
Winona didn’t answer immediately. Looking at him as he suddenly returned, she felt a secret, quiet

expectation rising in her chest. “Aren’t you supposed to be with Yumiko at the hospital?”
9he knew Felix well–if he truly cared about Yumiko, he’d stay at her bedside, not come back.
“I came back to grab something for her. And I thought I’d bring you along to apologize,” Felix said, his expression one of mild annoyance, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
Winona felt like she had swallowed a fly. The disgust made her unable to speak.
He was observant enough to notice Yumiko’s manipulative behavior. Yet, he still chose to stand by her side, resolutely defending Yumiko.
“Wino, you know Miko’s family is not as good as yours. Ever since her birthday, she’s been feeling
hilty.
Now, she’s accidentally broken your model. If you don’t apologize, she won’t be able to sleep tonight,” Felix said softly, his tone coaxing.
If this were before, with Felix speaking like that, she would have immediately agreed to anything.
But now, in front of Yumiko, she had no intention of yielding.
