Chapter 2
Theodore took me in his car and was going to drive me home.
As soon as the car door was opened, it was filled with Skyla’s personal belongings.
Thick cushions were placed behind the backrest of each seat, indicating how much Theodore valued Skyla’s child.
Skyla passed by me and confidently sat in the passenger seat.
“Theo was afraid that I wouldn’t feel well, so he took a long time to do it himself.”
“Don’t mention it, you can also get in the car.”
Theodore coldly reprimanded Skyla.
Skyla, not afraid of him at all, coquettishly said, “Theo, don’t be mean to me, our child will get
scared.”
Theodore actually believed Skyla’s terrible acting.
He nervously touched Skyla’s belly and softened his voice.
What can a fetus of only three months scare?
I silently watched the interaction between the two of them and quietly closed the car door.
At that moment, the child who used to be filled with my immense anticipation, now had thoughts of
not wanting it anymore.
Not long after I got back home, Theodore came running back with a frown on his face.
He tried to explain to me.
“Matilda, you also know what Skyla’s home was like, I couldn’t not help her.”
“Would you understand me, right?”
That day, Skyla ran to his company crying, trembling as she rushed into his arms.
Theodore carried Skyla from the doorway to the sofa, soothing her gently with a tender tone.
Before he could calm her down, Skyla’s parents stormed in angrily as well.
“Tell me, whose child is in your belly?”
Skyla wished to bury her entire body in his arms, not daring to move a muscle.
The Horne family was a scholarly family, and they had strict expectations for their only daughter.

Skyla didn’t even have a boyfriend, but now she is pregnant.
Skyla was so scared that she blurted out that the child was his.
Theodore softened his heart for a moment and actually agreed.
Theodore’s face contorted with a look of pain, as if he wanted me to understand how difficult it had
been for him.
Pain lingered in my heart as I asked myself the final question.
“Why didn’t you knock it down?”
Theodore dared not look at me anymore, his voice faltering.
“Skyla, she wanted to keep this child.”
Once I had a biological child, she was afraid that her child would carry the stigma of being a bastard.
Before he could continue speaking, I had already burst into tears of laughter.
I mocked the man in front of me.
“So, for her, your child could bear the reputation of being born out of wedlock, right?”
Theodore suppressed the pain in his heart and eventually closed his eyes.
Sorry.
“But Skyla begged me, and I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.”
