Story6–Chapter 1
I was three months pregnant and had a threatened miscarriage.
Axel Sweeney hurriedly took me to the hospital, never letting go of my hand all the way.
But he told the doctor, “Make sure the abortion is done properly and take out her uterus during
surgery.”
“As for the child in Elliana Blair’s belly, you must do your best to take care of them, as the baby will be the successor of the Sweeney Group.”
Seeing that my face was slightly pale, he took off his own coat and carefully wrapped me up.
He took out his phone and typed word by word: “Honey, don’t worry. The doctor said our child is
very healthy.”
put it
hree times and pu The doctor handed over a packet of medicine and said, “Increase the dosage three times and in the milk that Mrs. Sweeney drinks every day. Within a week, she’ll suffer a miscarriage.”
Axel took the medicine and carefully made a note on his phone in front of me: “Pregnancy support pills–make sure honey takes them on time every day.”
I looked at his gentle face and smiled.
He didn’t know that my deafness had already recovered a week ago.
After taking the medicine, Axel still felt a bit uneasy.
“Does this medicine have any side effects? If anything happened to my wife, you’d be fired.”
The doctor broke out in a cold sweat and hurriedly explained, “Mr. Sweeney, rest assured, this medicine only induces a simple miscarriage and won’t harm Mrs. Sweeney’s health.”
He then satisfactorily stood up and carefully embraced me in his arms.
When he touched my cold fingertips, he frowned with concern, clasping my hands and constantly blowing warm breath near his mouth.
Passersby who saw this scene were all casting envious glances.
Axel was well–known, a regular on major financial magazines and in the media.
“Handsome and wealthy“, “a business genius”, but nothing made him happier than the term
doting husband“.
I was his wife, and everyone said I was so lucky to be with him

Moreover, I was deaf.
Axel did not mind, in order to gain recognition from everyone, he would bring me along to all kinds
of business banquets.
Even for me, a building named “Silent” was established.
On the day of the proposal, thousands of unmanned drones formed a massive heart–shaped formation in the sky, with red banners hanging from them that read “Meredith Benitez, marry
me.”
He made a grand declaration to the whole world that he couldn’t live without me and was absolutely
crazy about me.
It was not that I couldn’t live without him.
Married for three years, he portrayed his deep affection to the fullest.
He deceived himself, and also deceived me.
I lowered my gaze and, as always, looked at his affectionate and handsome eyebrows and eyes. I couldn’t imagine how this man, who always professed his undying love for me, could suddenly turn into a bad guy.
My eyes blurred with the sting of tears, but I quickly blinked them back as he looked up.
Axel quickly typed on his phone: “I’m sorry, honey, did you get frozen? I’ll come send you home
immediately.”
“Let Dana stew the ginseng soup first, and you can go back and have it hot.”
Dana Nielsen’s number had not been found yet when the custom ringtone set for Elliana started to
play.
He instinctively stepped aside, mouthed the name of the company, and then quickly walked into the
hallway.
I followed his footsteps and arrived outside a door just a step away.
“Don’t make a fuss, it’s not possible today. She had a threatened miscarriage, and I need to be with
her.”
After a few seconds of pause, he spoke again, his voice slightly hoarse, already tinged with desire.
“Just wait for me once. Wear the black, hollowed–out outfit I bought. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
He pushed open the door and saw me standing at the entrance. He was slightly startled, and a fleeting unnatural look flashed in his eyes. He rubbed my head and wrote down some words: “Wife, there’s a problem with the company project. I have to go and deal with it immediately. I’ll have the

driver take you home first. Don’t wait for me tonight, go to bed early.”
The name of this project was Elliana.
He was so eager to leave that he bumped into my shoulder and didn’t even notice he’d dropped the coat that was keeping me warm on the ground.
I self–mockingly tugged at the corner of my mouth, took out my phone, and dialed a familiar number. “Professor, the confidential project at the research institute, I am willing to go.”
The professor on the other end sounded excited, his voice raised a few decibels. “Meredith, it’s great that you’ve come to your senses. Your academic achievements are impressive. It’d be better if you joined. I’ll help you submit the application to the organization right away.”
Halfway through the conversation, the professor had a thought and hesitated before speaking,
Now that y
have regained your hearing and joined the research institute. You won’t be able to come back in three to five years. Have you figured out how to communicate with your husband over
there?”
“No need anymore.”
“Why?”
“I’ll get a divorce immediately.”
