Chapter 4
After that day, Axel didn’t go back home, using the excuse of being busy with work.
It just reminded me to take ‘pregnancy–protecting medicine‘ every day.
He didn’t know that the day after he left, I had already undergone an abortion surgery.
The menstrual period was mild and not very painful.
When I saw that tiny little bundle of flesh, I couldn’t help it. My heart ached so much that I couldn’t
catch my breath. I held the little clothes I had prepared early and cried all night, saying sorry
countless times.
With swollen eyes and a hoarse voice, I opened my phone countless times, wanting to interrogate Axel, why did he have to be so cruel to me!
But all I saw were countless intimate and affectionate photos posted by Elliana on social media.
Famous tourist attractions, amusement parks, shared an ice cream.
Without Axel’s face, his traces were visible everywhere.
I lay paralyzed on the bed, with a vacant look in my eyes and a heart as lifeless as ashes.
The package of “pregnancy–saving medicine” was carefully wrapped by me, and I put it together with the divorce agreement that I personally drafted with the help of a lawyer.
Afterwards, I sorted out all the couple items we had at home with Axel.
There were too many things, so I called a van and paid double the price, asking the driver to record the entire process of the garbage incineration at the landfill and send it to me, ensuring that not a
trace would be left for Axel.
When the video was sent over, the workers came to my house, and I asked them to take down the
large wedding photo in the living room.
The frame alone cost over a hundred thousand dollars, and I handed it directly to the worker. My
only request was to destroy the wedding photos.
Having done all this, I looked around the empty house and felt no ripples in my heart, just like my
heart had been hollowed out and would never beat for Axel again.
A week later, Axel finally returned.
During the passionate indulgence of this week, he did not send me a single message, except for timely reminders to take my medication.
Seeing the empty house now, he realized something was wrong and suddenly felt extremely
anxious in his heart.

Trembling, I typed the words, “Darling, why is our home so empty?”
I put on the evening gown he had sent me and smiled, saying, “It’s old, so I have to throw it away in
order to get a new one.”
He finally breathed a sigh of relief, “Yeah, sure, buy whatever you like. Hubby will foot the bill. My
honey deserves the best.”
car.
I evaded his embrace without leaving a trace and took the lead by sitting in the
Along the way, he inquired about their well–being and showed utmost concern.
It seemed as if it wanted to make up for all the guilt of not being with me this week.
I did not give any response.
Until they reached the banquet hall, Elliana warmly greeted the guests like a hostess.
She wore a fitted dress in shades of purple, accentuating her graceful curves.
Seeing us coming over, they greeted us with a smile and said, “Mr. Sweeney, there are many
important business guests here. Please go and greet them, and I will take care of your wife.”
Axel nodded and tapped my forehead gently, taking out his phone to tell me, “Honey, I’ll go say hello and come to accompany you right away.”
As soon as the person left, Elliana immediately changed her expression. “You could hear it, right?
That night at the villa, listening to my husband’s escapades all night long.”
I am indeed not as shameless as Elliana.
Just as I was about to leave, she grabbed my hand and said, “Meredith, do you want to see if your
man will choose you or choose me in the end?”
I hadn’t reacted yet when she grabbed my hand and forcefully pushed me backwards.
The champagne tower, taller than a person, collapsed with a loud crash.
“What happened?”
Axel pushed through the crowd in a panic, and I was knocked off balance by him. My hands landed
in the shards, but he carefully helped Elliana up and passed by me.
“Mrs. Sweeney, I don’t know what I did to offend you, why did you push me!”
She tearfully complained, “Mr. Sweeney, my stomach hurt.”
Axel turned his head to look at me, and a coldness I had never seen before flickered in his eyes. “You better pray that she’s okay, or I won’t let you off the hook.”

After saying that, he picked up Elliana and left without looking back, leaving me in a disheveled state, being pointed and talked about by everyone.
How glorious it was when I married Axel, and now how embarrassing it is.
They all knew that I was deaf, and without Axel’s protection, hurtful words clung to me like maggots to a bone.
I stood up unsteadily, with blood dripping from both hands.
Walking out of the banquet hall, by the unnoticed green belt, there was a pitch–black commercial
van parked.
I got in the car without any hesitation.
In the hospital, due to Axel’s anger, almost all the doctors came.
Elliana leaned against the wall and breathed a sigh of relief only after confirming that the baby in
her belly was safe.
As I remembered myself still lingering in the banquet hall, a sense of regret and guilt washed over
me belatedly.
The last words spoken were a result of his anger, and he spoke without thinking. As soon as he finished speaking, he regretted it.
Fortunately, his honey couldn’t hear.
As long as he sweet–talked her, his honey would definitely not blame him for leaving, after all, she
loved him so much.
I quickly took out my phone and was about to edit a text message to explain to me.
The doctor’s voice suddenly rang out, “Mr. Sweeney, you are here just in time. Mrs. Sweeney’s hearing has been restored for half a month now, and don’t forget about the follow–up examination. Remember to remind her when you go back.”
