Chapter 8
This time, I completely fell out with Vincent.
Originally, I thought our ending would be a protracted battle, and I considered many possibilities.
I never expected that this would be the way to end my ten–year relationship.
I was prepared for a series of torments after I angered Vincent, after all, he was a vengeful
businessman.
Vincent, however, seemed to have undergone a transformation, and the methods I had imagined
did not materialize.
At first, all the gossip about Vincent disappeared overnight.
The villa I previously sold at a low price was also compensated by the other party at the original
price doubled.
Later on, the hospital where my father was admitted started waiving the treatment fees I had paid.
Someone has already paid for us, as soon as we asked.
Not only that, but my family’s affairs were also taken care of by me. I sat in the conference room, watching the other party present the new contract, as if I had just had a dream.
I was very afraid that one wrong step would be irreparable. I couldn’t figure out what kind of thoughts Vincent had at that moment.
Why is it that you seem like a completely different person now? Are you trying to take a more sentimental approach?
“I wanted to meet Vincent.”
I said to the person over there who was constantly showing me attentiveness.
“This…”
He appeared to be very troubled.
“You tell him that I wanted to see him, he won’t give you a hard time.”
I slowly opened my mouth and said to the person, “I knew he would definitely be able to contact.”
Since we broke up, I have lost his contact information and I don’t want to have any more entanglements.
Being introduced by others is the best way for me at present.
The person picked up the phone only after hearing me say so.

After a while, a luxury car arrived and picked me up.
Stepping into Vincent’s office again, everything from the past seemed like a distant memory.
Vincent sat on the office couch expressionlessly.
On the coffee table in front of him, there was a signed divorce agreement.
I was somewhat surprised that he, who had been so stubborn before, suddenly agreed so meekly. I walked over to the sofa opposite him and sat down, intending to take a look at the agreement document.
Vincent, however, wouldn’t let me see it. “Wait a moment before you see this!”
Perhaps they got divorced, his tone was very gentle.
I looked up silently at him.
Vincent, too, gazed into my eyes for a long time, quietly. After a while, he spoke softly.
“Sorry.”
I saw Vincent, who never lowered his head and was extremely domineering, sincerely apologize to
- me.
I was somewhat startled by this sudden change, but after calming down and thinking carefully, I quickly understood why.
He knew the truth of that year, after so many years, he finally was willing to seek the truth.
I tightly pressed my lips, preventing myself from venting my grievances at that moment.
But tears, like pearls that have lost their thread, kept falling incessantly.
Vincent saw me like this and quickly stood up from the sofa to hold me in his arms.
I wanted to break free, but he kept tightening his grip on my arm.
“Chelsea, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
“It was my foolishness that ruined your feelings, and only then did I realize what I had done.”
“I thought that night was deliberate on your part.”
“I sent someone to investigate and only then did I find out that it was my mother who orchestrated the incident of me getting drunk and mistakenly entering, as well as being awakened when I was
sick.”
I didn’t know she could go to such lengths to find a daughter–in–law for the Atkinson family…”
“It was our fault, can you give me another chance?”

Seeing that I had no reaction to this, he continued speaking with great sincerity.
“I will compensate you well!”
“You didn’t know that my heart shattered the moment I found your diary on your dressing table…”
Everything became clear, and all of this was the scene I had been eagerly anticipating
But now, as I watch him tearfully recounting the story to me, I feel like a bystander.
How can one find peace?
Because of a design, my ten years of emotions became a joke.
In this marriage, I lived without any self–esteem.
There was a time when, faced with Vincent’s accusations, I almost felt like I was the unforgivable
sinner.
There is no light–hearted chance to go back in time.
I don’t know how many tears I shed, finally, as if my tearful eyes had dried up, I pushed him away
and spoke with a hoarse voice.
“I didn’t need your compensation, if possible, please let me go.”
Vincent looked at Chelsea’s lifeless face and persistently spoke, “Chelsea, I want to know why we
had to get divorced!”
“You loved me for so many years, now everything is clear, can’t we be together nicely?”
I slightly tilted my head back, suppressing the welling tears at the corners of my eyes.
He spoke of a beautiful ending, as long as I am willing to surrender now, I will live better than
before.
But what he didn’t know was, during those years when he misunderstood me.
Every single thing he did to me caused enough pain to leave a lasting impression on me!
After a moment, I answered softly.
“It was time! It was time that eroded my liking for you.”
“It was time that made me disappointed in you, disappointed in our marriage, time and time again!”
Vincent looked at me silently for a while and said, “So you don’t love me anymore, is that right?”
I lowered my gaze and said yes.

His voice was hoarse and barely recognizable as he said, “Alright! I’ll let you go!”
He looked into the distance as his Adam’s apple rolled, and he spoke out his decision.
“I will transfer two villas and four apartments under
your
name!”
“As long as you don’t remarry, I will pay you 80 million in alimony every year in the future,” he said. But I spoke softly, “Vincent, let’s end it once and for all! It’s good for both of us!”
As the words fell, what I received was not an answer, but once again, an embrace that wanted to
keep me.
The familiar body temperature made my eyes turn red.
“Vincent, let go of me! We were already considered divorced! What are you doing now… what does it even mean?”
His voice was even more suppressed. “Chelsea, give me another chance!”
He almost trembled when he said these words, and he almost exhausted all his pride to beg me like
this!
This should be the last time, right?
But I heard my voice suppressed and determined.
“Vincent is no longer useful! We are done! Stop trying to win me back!”
I broke free from his embrace, hastily packed my belongings, including the already signed divorce agreement.
I left the man who had been trapping me for ten years.
We finally finished!
Our marriage, finally came to an end.
The moment I stepped out of the door, I felt an unprecedented sense of relief in my heart.
As I watched the distant sun setting, my future must have been bright and brilliant!
