I followed Lukas with a flutter of nerves dancing in my stomach.
I had not expected to encounter Lukas‘ arch nemesis so quickly and to be mistaken for his accomplice, used as a means of provocation against him.
Mediopolis knew Lukas as the undisputed king of the jewelry world, where his word held the weight of law within the industry.
However, his proper background remained shrouded in mystery. Six years ago, he emerged from obscurity, taking Strakovski Jewelry to unparalleled heights of success.
Those who dared to obstruct or offend him reportedly suffered unfortunate fates, adding to the aura of fear surrounding him.
Lukas in recent years, even if he is in big trouble, he can finally be safe, and later, some people say that the forces behind him are mysterious and powerful, and more and more people are afraid of him.
A tinkling laugh chimed, slicing through the tension. “Lukas, that was swift!”
“Doesn’t take long to brush aside the irrelevant,” Lukas’s retort cut like ice.
I couldn’t help but feel my lips twitch, but I refrained from saying anything.
Elias, head cocked, inspected me trailing in Lukas’s wake, admiration evident in his eyes. “I see now why Lukas was in a hurry. Miss Lopez, you’re a national treasure indeed.”
I tugged at my lips slightly, revealing a touch of unnaturalness.
Just then, Ava whispered, “Thank you for helping us get Aurelia out. Can we leave now?”
“Ava!” I swiftly stepped out from behind Lukas.
Meeting her gaze, Ava’s eyes revealed a mixture of emotions–complexity, grievances, and worries.
“Mr Strakovski, thank you for today!” I said as I approached Ava.
Lukas raised an eyebrow and glanced at me, his eyes flickering. “No need. James troubled you because of me in the first place.”
I nodded, appreciating his understanding. “Then we’ll leave first.”
Third POV
Lukas saw the two women leave and turned back to his private room.
Elias hurriedly glanced at the departing Aurelia and Ava, then caught up with Lukas with a sense of resignation. “Lukas, wouldn’t it have been courteous to invite them in for a moment?”

“No need.” Lukas’s voice remained frigid.
In Elias‘ heart, there is a slight fondness for Ava, who resembles a little white rabbit. She is a woman unlike any other, capable of capturing his interest with just a single glance!
He couldn’t help but said, “You had a girlfriend before. Could you not extend a more gentlemanly invitation and offer them a ride home?”
Lukas cast a sidelong glance at Elias. “No ulterior motives towards her.”
“Her?” Elias blinked in surprise.
“Aurelia!” Lukas responded directly.
Elias’s curiosity was piqued by Lukas’s answer. While Ava held his interest, he was curious about Lukas’s thoughts.
He grinned, “Why not? Give me a good reason. She’s gorgeous and your type, you know.”
A displeased furrow formed on Lukas’s brow. He pushed open the private room’s door, “She is my wife.”
“What? What did you say?” Elias struggled to process this bombshell.
Lukas regarded him as if explaining to a child, eased onto the sofa, and spoke leisurely, “Aurelia is my wife. Spare me your impure thoughts.”
“What? Are you serious?” Elias was near dumbstruck.
“Do I appear to be joking?” Lukas took a sip of whiskey, lounging casually.
Although he had no inclination to speak of his feelings, it was undeniable that he was indeed wed to Aurelia!
Elias recovered from the shock after a pause. “Well… I suppose you’re right. Now that I think about it, it does make
sense. You wouldn’t treat a woman so well without a reason!”
Lukas offered an affirming hum, saying nothing.
With a grin hinting at mischief, Elias pressed on, “So, what about Emily? Are you two over?
“What do you think?” Lukas arched an eyebrow.
Elias chuckled, acknowledging the tease. “All right, all right, just messing with you. I’m not after your wife, but I
must admit, her friend has caught my attention.”
Lukas huffed, dismissing Elias’s chatter.
He was, after all, Elias – a player through and through. Lukas had grown accustomed to it.
Aurelia POV
Meanwhile, I and Ava exited the private room.

Noticing Ava’s distant expression, I voiced my concern. “Shouldn’t we keep searching?”
Ava shook her head, a tinge of disappointment marring her expression. “No, maybe I misunderstood. It’s not the first time I’ve been wrong.”
Hearing Ava’s words, I felt heartbroken.
Unexpectedly, Ava inquired, “Is that Lukas guy your husband?”
I was momentarily taken aback. “Yes, he’s my husband.”
Ava shared her unfiltered thoughts. “He’s incredibly tall and devilishly handsome. The type that sweeps you your feet at first glance.”
