“Mr. Matthew Sancher’s going to wake up tomorrow. Don’t give him any tonics like the ones he had today. They’ve been off- limits for a month.” Yvonne advised.
“Got it” Christopher nodded, glancing at the sky. “Let’s grab dinier, my treat”
“Nah, gotta head home now.” It was probably around six or seven in the evening. Yvonne grabbed her bag, checked her phone, and noticed two missed calls from Cherry. She quickly dialed back and said, “Mom, sorry, I was tied up earlier.”
Christopher looked Yvonne, impressed. She seemed remarkable, her voice soft and melodious when chatting with her family.
“Alright, heading out now. Bye.” Yvonne ended the call.
Christopher then said softly, “Need a ride?”
“Take me to Honey Park. My car is parked at the underground garage there,” replied Yvonne.
“Honey Park? A park still under construction, not open yet. Why is her car there? And how did she end up at the church? Christopher found Yvonne to be an enigma, hard to unravel.
“Wait a minute. I need to return something first. Yvonne had borrowed a needle kit from Yaron who was on duty today. After giving back the kit, she passed Sienna’s ward and couldn’t help pausing in her tracks.
Sienna was inside, getting an IV drip, eyes closed in peaceful slumber. Yvonne suddenly remembered a specific afternoon from her childhood. Sienna napping, sunbeams streaming through the blinds, with only the gentle rise and fall of her breath showing she was alive. She looked serene now.
Just then, a voice called out. “Yvonne, what are you doing here?”
Yvonne turned to see Ada and Zachary standing nearby, looking surprised. They’d rushed over after receiving a call from the hospital about Sienna’s VIP ward needing renewal, but what surprised them was buniping into Yvonne here.
Ada composed herself first. “Aren’t you supposed to be with your birth parents now? Wanna beg Sienna to stay in the city! Stay at our place? Forget about it!”
Zachary asked, “Yvonne, what’s happening? Weren’t you leaving with your family?”
“Bet she never left! Probably heard how tough it is at home and ran back here to plead with Sienna, Ada sneered, looking at Yvonne with distain, assuming she was attempting to secure a spot at the White residence.
“Send her off quickly!” Ada urged Zachary,
Zachary stepped forward, trying to be friendly. “Let’s talk, Yvonne. How much are you asking for?”
Are they trying to buy me off with money? Yvonne smiled slightly, finding their behavior amusing.
Seeing that she didn’t respond, Zachary took out a bank card. “Here are 30 thousand dollars for you. The PIN’s 1234567
Zachary, why give her so much money?” Ada felt pained seeing his generosity.
Zachary gave Yvonne a look, hinting at her to keep quiet. Without sweetening the pot, how could Yvonne possibly be willing to leave? Yesterday she stole Muriel’s ruby necklace worth 30 thousand, and plus another 30 thousand in this bank card, she will leave, right?
Yvonne’s eyes flashed with a touch of defiance as she eyed the card in his hand, choosing to stay silent.”

“What? Not satisfied? Ada interjected, her tone indignant. “You later”

“Yvonne, just take it. You won’t have to look after Grandma anymore. Didn’t I make it clear? Your birth family should come first from now on.” Zachary made an attempt to hand the card to Yvonne, but she deftly avoided it.
“What’s your endgame here? Waiting for Sienna to wake up and deceive her? Snap out of it!” Ada couldn’t believe Yvonne’s stubbornness. “Face the facts, Sienna’s got nothing to do with you anymore. Get lost as far as you can
“I might think about it… for three hundred million, Yvonne teased, raising her crimson lips. “Just maybe.”
“You’re out of your mind!” Ada was close to losing it at her boldness. “Might as well rob a bank!”
“Robbing a bank is like watching paint dry compared to dealing with you guys,” Yvonne smiled.
“You… you… Ada clutched her heart, astonished by Yvonne’s scheming nature. “Forget three hundred million, I wouldn’t give you a penny!” She snatched back the card. “If you don’t skedaddle now, I’ll have you kicked out.”
“Fine, go
ahead and call someone then. Yvonne was unfazed.
“You’re infuriating! What a lousy VIP floor, letting anyone waltz in. Ada was about to head to the front desk.
“Yvonne.” Christopher’s voice suddenly cut through the tension.
Ada glanced up to see Christopher at the end of the corridor. Even at a distance, his tall figure and commanding presence were unmistakable.
Yvonne recognized the voice and saw Christopher waiting for her. Without sparing a glance at the other two, she swiftly made her exit.
“Who’s that guy?” Ada raised an eyebrow, skeptical as she peered down the corridor. “Could he be her dad? No way, her dad can’t sound that youthful.”
“Probably her brother. She has five unmarried brothers, right? Wasn’t her grandma ill before? Perhaps they’re also here in the hospital,” Zachary said.
“Can they afford it?” Ada watched them vanish down the corridor and turned to Zachary. “We need to move Sienna to another hospital soon. Otherwise, getting caught up by this pesky girl would be a huge headache.
Zachary shared similar concerns, but the fact was that among the medical facilities across the city, none compared to the care Sienna received at Betrico Hospital.
“Yvonne is manipulating Sienna’s affections. We can handle her, but I fear Sienna might soften and allow her back home,” Ada said worriedly
Three months earlier, Sienna discovered that Yvonne wasn’t her biological granddaughter. The shock caused her to faint. Upon waking, she demanded that as long as she was alive, Yvonne couldn’t leave. Those attempting to take Yvonne away. disrespected her. In Muriel’s return, Sienna showed her no kindness, regarding her as an unwelcome outsider.
