Chapter 28
“I’m not scared.” Yvonne obviously wasn’t fazed by the environment. She had been in worse conditions countless times
before.
“Allow me.” Christopher approached her as she was about to unbuckle her seat belt, a pleasant scent wafting towards her. Up close, Yvonne noticed his striking features. Even his skin was so smooth,
Christopher raised his gaze and looked at her seriously. “Tell me when you have the time.”
“Alright,” she answered Christopher got out of the car first, opened the door for her, and then hung her bag on her shoulder. Without missing a beat, he handed her the things he just bought and said, “You can munch on these if you get hungry later.”
Yvonne wanted to decline, but upon seeing his expression, she reached out and accepted. Little did she expect, her fingers accidentally brushed against Christopher’s hand. The soft touch made her heart skip a beat. A peculiar feeling surged through her.
Yvonne took the items and turned to leave. Unable to hold back, Christopher softly called out, Yvonne.”
“Yes?” Yvonne replied, turning back to look at him.
Christopher said. “That person just now wasn’t my girlfriend.”
Yvonne was puzzled.
She called to ask for forgiveness, Christopher explained, “I don’t know her well”
“I see.” Yvonne responded.
“Take care on your way. Christopher suppressed all emotions without a trace. “If you’re scared, I can call and talk to you.”
“No need,” Yvonne declined.
As the girl’s figure gradually disappeared from sight, Christopher sat back in the car and found himself constantly thinking of her cute yet expressionless face.
Yvonne had barely entered the underground parking lot when she felt her phone vibrating. She checked and saw it was Christopher calling
“Did you find your car?” Christopher asked.
Yvonne found it somewhat amusing, “Just found it. Haven’t you left yet?”
“No. I’m waiting for you.” Christopher replied.
“No need. I’m heading to Exit B.” Yvonne pressed the unlock button on her car. “Heard that? I’m going to drive.
“Alright. Take care on the road,” Christopher said.
After hanging up, Christopher called Marty. “Make time for tonight’s visit to the Lynch family,” he said.
Marty got terrified. “Mr. Sanchez, you’re not planning to confront Ms. Samantha Lynch about today’s accident, are you? She didn’t mean any harm.”
“No, replied Christopher.
“Are you finally getting Mr. Matthew Sanchez’s idea? Thinking of asking Ms. Samantha Lynch to join us in visiting him at the hospital tomorrow? He’d be happy to see her,” Marty suggested

Before Marty could finish, he felt tension on the phone. The stating to get confused, sir, he said, wondering what Christopher was up to
Tm breaking off the engagement, Christopher stated.
“What?” Marty’s face turned pale. “Mr. Sanchez, this isn’t a joke, is it?” he asked, though Christopher’s tone sounded quite
Swallowing hand. Marty continued, “Ealing things with Ms Samantha Iynch disrupts the long–standing bond between the Lynch and Sanchez families. Ms. Samantha Lynch is their only daughter, cherished by many. If you end this engagement suddenly, how will she move on? What about the Lynch family’s reputation? These are big concerns
Christopher stayed quiet, staring at the passing traffic outside the window.
“Mr. Sanchez. I know you can’t stand Ms. Samantha Lynch Houstly, I don’t like her much either. She comes off as phony and insincere. By contrast, Yvonne seems much cooler. But this is more than just about you and Ms. Samantha Lynch. It’s’a whole big deal involving the Sanchez and Lynch families.”
The image of Matthew lying ill in bed flashed through Marry’s mind. If he found out, he’d definitely blow a fuse.
“Mr. Sanchez, how about giving it another thought?” Marty tried to sway Christopher once more.
Averting his gaze, Christopher replied casually, “Get some gifts ready. We’re going this evening
“Mr. Sanchez?” Marty knew that once Christopher made a decision, no one could stop him. Still, he pushed on “Even if you don’t consider the Lynch family, or your friendship with Mr. Wayne Lynch, or Ms. Samantha Lynch, at least consider Mr
Matthew Sanchez’s feelings.”
Matthew had been eagerly anticipating Christopher’s wedding and the next generation, yearning to hold his great- grandchild. But now, not only would there be no chance of that, the Sanchez and Lynch Tamilies would be at odds, leaving Matthew with a reputation of being dishonest. It would be a hard blow on him.
But Christopher wasn’t budging. Marty knew his further arguments would go in vain and sighed inwardly. He pondered. Mr. Sanchez’s marriage isn’t up for debate. Mr. Matthew Sanchez tried to force him, but it only made things warse. Ms. Samantha Lynch can only blame her own antics today. Instead of endearing herself to Mr. Sanchez, she ruined the whole engagement.
I keep Grandpa in the dark for now. Once he’s feeling better, I’ll break it to him myself, Christopher said
Marty mulled over Christopher’s suggestion. It seems like Mr. Sanchez is going to act first and tell Mr. Matthew Sanchez later, but news of a breakup spreads fast. When Mr. Manhew Sanchez eventually finds out, he’s bound to hit the roof. Lei just hope the news spreads slowly. Mr. Matthew Sanchez’s heart can’t take any more shocks.
Meanwhile, Yvonne finally returned home. Yosef and Cherry were overjoyed after the long wait. They ushered her to the dining table and filled it with delicious dishes.
