“Forget about it,” Zachary mustered, not wanting to stir up any more drama. Being the big shot in Wintertown, he cared about his image and didn’t want things to get too messy in public.
But Ada chimed in, “Could it be that Dr. Dawson finds Yvonne somewhat attractive? Is he trying to woo her and playing the hero to win her heart? He used to be so impatient with us and must’ve been influenced by her.”
“Enough of that. Let’s go check on Mom, Zachary said, urging her on.
“Thope she’ll wake up soon. I’ve got the will all set, just waiting for her signature. Once that’s done, our inheritance and Muriel’s share will be secure,” said Ada.
“Quiet down!” Zachary shot Ada a stern look. “They might hear you!”
Ada quickly covered her mouth, nodding as they slut the door behind them.
Yvonne didn’t know the purpose of their visit. She told Yaron behind her, I have something else to take care of. You go on ahead”
“What about Mrs. White’s medical report?” asked Yaron,
“Unless there’s something unusual, just give it a quick look.”
“Alright.”
Only then did Yaron notice the man waiting ahead. He had neat short hair and a slender figure, emanating an air of elegance.
Yaron thought to himself, “Wait, Christopher? Ever since saving Mr. Matthew Sanchez, Yvonne seems to have gotten quite close to this guy.
Christopher caught sight of Yaron, and his gaze merely flickered past him before settling on Yvonne. It seemed like he didn’t pay much attention to Yaron, as he softly asked Yvonne, “Were you in trouble?”
“No,” Yvonne replied.
“If you need help, you can tell me. I’ll handle it,” Christopher offered.
Yvonne raised her eyes, observing Christopher’s serious expression, and calmly responded, “It’s nothing. Just encountered some idiots. I’m going inside to see Grandpa.”
“Alright.”
Christopher’s eyes followed her as she entered the ward, and then he glanced briefly towards Yaron not far away.
Yaron wasn’t sure if he should say hi. Even his grandpa was respectful towards Christopher.
Just as he hesitated, Christopher had already withdrawn his gaze and followed Yvonne into the ward.
Matthew, upon seeing Yvonne, immediately asked with concern, Yvonne, is everything okay?”
Yvonne replied, “Yes.”
“If anything comes up,tell Christopher. Hell handle it. If you’re not satisfied with how he handles it, come to me. I’ve got your back.”

Yvonne’s clear eyes sparkled as she responded, “Okay”

As they parted ways. Matthew couldn’t help but offer numerous reminders. “Yvonne, don’t forget our agreement. Remember to come when I’m discharged the day after tomorrow.”
Tll make sure to be there.”
After leaving the hospital. Yvonne inquired about Julianna’s condition.
Christopher replied solemnly. “It’s a brain injury. Besides spontaneous breathing and blinking, the other symptoms are similar to being in a vegetative state.”
In simpler terms, it was like being a living plant. Yvonne recalled tough case she had dealt with long ago, where the patient had become a vegetable due to a brain injury. Although the patient recovered eventually, it required a lot of medications, some of which were rare and even came from illegal areas near the borders. In short, it was quite troublesome.
“Want to grab dinner together?” asked Christopher.
Yvonne checked the time and was about to say that her parents were waiting at home for her when she noticed Christopher taking out his phone and dialing a number.
“Mr. Lynch it’s me. Yvonne and I will be eating out tonight. I’ll take good care of her.” With just a few words, Christopher hung up..
Yvonne thought, ‘Did he even ask for my opinion?
What do you feel like eating?” Christopher opened the car door, waiting for her to get in
Yvonne had no response
“Clusian food or something exotic?
Yvonne remained silent.
“Maybe some sushi?”
Still silent
“Or do you want something else?”
“Anything will do.” Yvonne got in the car, deciding not to dwell on this question any longer.
After Christopher got in the car, he saw Yvonne reaching for the necklace and instinctively grabbed her hand.
Yvonne was taken aback as her small hand was enveloped by his palm. She looked at him and explained, “It wouldn’t be right for me to keep this.”
“No one is more deserving of it than you, Christopher locked eyes with her, speaking slowly, “I know you’re still young and haven’t thought about marriage yet. That’s okay. No rush.”
Yvonne just felt that wearing such a valuable piece around her neck would attract too much attention. Everyone who’s heard. of this necklace knows what it represents. Only Christopher’s fiancée can wear it
Yvonne still wanted to take off the necklace, so Christopher made a concession. “Considering Grandpa’s heart condition, how about you keep it on for a few days? He’s being discharged from the hospital soon, and he’ll be upset if he doesn’t see you wearing it
Yvonne finally agreed. Christopher smoothly snatched her hand just before she could remove it from the necklace.

With a serious face, he held pnto her soft hand and strangely seemed reluctant to let go.

Ignoring her plea. Christopher laced his large hand with hers, his gaze fixed ahead as he calmly said, “Just for a little while, let me hold on”
Internally, Yvonne questioned, “What happened to your manners?”
“Do you know Yaron well?” Christopher asked out of the blue.
Confused. Yvonne couldn’t figure out why he was asking this.
Marty, driving ahead, couldn’t believe how fast things were heating up between Christopher and Yvonne. He was so hyped that he could barely keep the steering wheel straight. He thought Too bad the road isn’t muddy. We could’ve had a bumpy ride like last time and tossed Ms. Lynch right into Mr. Sanchez’s arms. How epic would that be?
Cool as a cucumber, Yvonne responded, “We had a few run–ins” After showcasing her skills, Yaron had no choice but to respect her.
“So, do you prefer doctors or non–does?” Christopher asked casually.
Baffled, Yvonne was now completely lost.
In his head, Marty chuckled. “Mr. Sanchez, you claimed you weren’t jealous, but why are you asking that question? You’re dripping with envy!
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Yvonne was puzzled by his words, seeing a glint of jealousy in his eyes. Suddenly, she realized what this was about, “Doctors are better. It’s cool to have someone to chat with and learn from.
Christopher squeezed her hand unconsciously. There was a hint of bitterness in his tone. “Talking about medicine round the clock: Doesn’t that wear you out?”
She shook her head. “Nah, we can chat about stuff we’re into. Plus, it helps both of us get better.”
Seeing Yvonne raise an eyebrow, Christopher couldn’t help but smirk. He knew she was teasing him, but it made him feel happy.
“Mr. Sanchez, we’re almost at StarrySky Restaurant,” Marty exclaimed, stealing a glance in the rearview mirror. “Ms. Lynch. this is Mr. Sanchez’s favorite place. He’s never brought any girl here before.”
Yvonne, intrigued, asked. “So, does that mean he took other girls to places he doesn’t like?”
“No, of course not” Marty quickly denied.
Before Marty’s car stopped, the eagle–eyed manager spotted them.
In a blink of an
n eye, the manager rushed out to greet them. “Mr. Sanchez, it’s been a while. And who is this?”
