Chapter 38
Yvonne’s eyes shone brightly in the reflection of the fireworks, but looking closely, Christopher noticed a hint of sadness. He wanted to take another look, but that touch of sorrow disappeared in the blink of an eye, like fireworks in the sky, leaving no
trace.
In the alternating light and shadow of the fireworks, Yvonne’s beauty was striking, and her noble and cold beauty akin to the bright moon, incomparable by anyone.
“Are all these prepared by you!” Yvonne looked up at the fireworks in the sky.
“Yeah,” Christopher, unsure if the seemingly aloof girl in front of him liked the surprise, said, “Now, do you still think doctors are better?”
Yvonne found it amusing and joked, “Studying medicine is practical and useful.”
Christopher thought, ‘Is she implying that I’m not practical enough, only preparing things that are useless?
“You haven’t seen my practical side yet, Christopher suddenly whispered softly in her ear.
His deep and clear voice seemed to suggest something, making Yvonne blush. She unexpectedly thought of things she shouldn’t have.
A while later, the ceiling slowly closed, and the lights in the room lit up layer by layer. Once the entire room was brightly illuminated, the violinist bowed, preparing to leave. Inadvertently, the violinist caught sight of Yvonne and was startled. I know her. She once gave me pointers on playing the violin, but she refused to take me as an apprentice. I didn’t expect to run into her here, he thought.
Yvonne also didn’t anticipate that Cyrille, the Farronian violinist she had diligently mentored for half a month, would play the piece of music that she had taught him so poorly. She had just been wondering where they found this disappointing
amateur
“Know him?” Christopher asked as he saw Yvonne looking at the violinist.
Yvonne lightly smirked. “The famous violinist Cyrille. Everyone knows him.”
Cyrille panicked and quickly said in Clusian, “Forgive me. I haven’t been practicing violin recently. Sorry about the bad experience.”
“You may leave.” Christopher, unaware of what had happened between them, held Yvonne’s hand and wouldn’t let go.
Seeing that Yvonne had no intention of pursuing the matter, Cyrille went downstairs and immediately took out his phone, messaging: [I didn’t realize it was you. I was invited last minute and thought it was some wealthy person hiring me for fun. so I didn’t take it seriously.
Yvonne received his message and simply replied with a few words: [Very off–key:
Cyrille promised: [I will practice diligently]
Yvonne put away her phone without replying and said to Christopher, “Let’s go.”
Muriel sat opposite the StarrySky Restaurant, stuffed to the brim, but Yvonne still hadn’t shown up.
“Muriel, you seem to have a good appetite today. Want some more? How about some ice cream? Yanis didn’t know about her vile thoughts and assumed these treats were right up her alley.
Tm good. Muriel forced a smile. She’d puke if she ate more. If weren’t for Yvonne taking forever, she wouldn’t have stuffed herself so much.

Chapter 18
“No more food? Then let’s bounce. Wanna stroll by the river?” Yinis, noticing the time, called the waiter to pay the bills and walked out of the restaurant, holding Muriel’s hand.
Muriel trailed, feeling a bit bummed, thinking. ‘It’s a shame that I can’t show Yanis what Yvonne is doing”
Just then, the VIP elevator of the StarrySky Restaurant across the way suddenly opened. A tall, handsome man emerged, walking alongside Yvonne. Although it was only for a second or two, Muriel was completely stunned. Even from such a distance, that man’s stature, appearance, and aura completely outshone Yanis. Though she couldn’t see his features clearly, Muriel could tell that the man was very young. She was astonished and couldn’t even describe the mix of feelings right now. She thought. ‘Could that man be Yvonne’s brother? Considering Yvonne’s poor family background, it’s possible that they’re working there together.
With these thoughts in mind, Muriel felt a bit relieved, but she still couldn’t explain the man’s gestures. It seemed like he was holding Yvonne’s hand as they walked out.
She pondered, ‘Maybe I was mistaken. How could siblings hold hands? From this far of a distance, and with only a glimpse, I didn’t see the details clearly
“Muriel, what’s on your mind?” Yanis asked,
“Nothing.” Muriel didn’t want to admit that she had been staring at Yvonne for fear that Yanis might think she was obsessed with her. However, she noticed the man and Yvonne heading towards the exclusive parking lot of Starry Sky Restaurant.
“Yanis, I suddenly remembered there’s a dessert shop at the foot of the mountain. I want to grab some treats for my parents and maybe get a few for your parents too,” Muriel said.
“No need. My parents don’t eat sweets at night, but since Mr. and Mrs. White want some, I can buy some,” Yanis replied as he drove to the foot of the mountain and accompanied Muriel into the shop.
Muriel pretended to browse through the desserts, glancing outside at the road every now and then. There was only one way down from the mountain, so no matter how Yvonne was coming down–whether by taxi, bike, or scooter–she would have to pass by this dessert shop. However, despite Muriel’s keen observation and waiting, there was only a high–end luxury car passing by, and no other vehicles in sight.
She asked inwardly, Is Yvonne on foot?
“Excuse me, miss, is there no dessert in our shop that you like?” The manager couldn’t help but approach Muriel, who was decked out in designer brands but spent half an hour picking a cake.
Muriel responded, “Oh, it’s not that. I suddenly remembered that my parents are attending a charity banquet tonight, and there will probably be plenty of food there. So, I decided not to bring them anything for now.”
Muriel, holding Yanis’s hand, walked out of the dessert shop, got into the car, glanced in the rearview mirror, and saw no one. Sure enough, Yvonne is on foot,‘ she thought to herself.
Meanwhile, Yvonne sat in the flashy ride that Muriel had seen, eyeballing Christopher. “Can you let go now?” She exclaimed inwardly. You said you’d only hold my hand for a while, but it’s been all night. Are you still not satisfied?
Christopher smirked coolly. “Isn’t it fair to hold my future wife’s hand?”
Yvonne retorted, “I’m not your fiancée.”
In this day and age, why do arranged marriages still exist? What’s even weirder is that a modern guy like Christopher, all educated and stuff, didn’t turn down this whole set–up thing. This is so strange, Yvonne mused.
“We’ve held hands. Too late to back out now,” Christopher said, sofily rubbing her hand.
Yvonne tried to pull her hand back, but he held onto it tightly. “Don’t move, or you might hurt yourself,” he said in a tempting voice, leaning in close.

Chapter 38
Yvonne was sure that Christopher was hinting at something.
At the Lake Mansion, Samantha kept glancing at her watch. It’s pm already. Why hasn’t that country bumpkin returned yet? Did she embarrass herself at Mr. Matthew Sanchez’s place and dare not come back? If that’s the case, things are about to get really interesting. I can’t wait to see her looking all red–faced, Samantha th
