Chapter 401
Daniel’s eyes bugged out when he saw Christopher holding Yvonne’s hand. Yvonne hadn’t cut off his hand yer–which was a miracle in itself. Daniel was blown away.
“Daniel? What are you doing here?” Cherry asked when she just arrived. She was surprised as she took in the pile of clothes. “We didn’t order these, right?”
“Christopher, Yvonne, you’re back. What’s the deal! Daniel, did you get the wrong address?” Yosef was just as confused.
Since nobody seemed to know what was up, Daniel filled them in. “Mr. Sanchez sent these. He asked me to drop them off.”
“Christopher?” Yoset and Cherry both looked at Christopher, eyebrows raised.
Christopher shrugged it off, explaining. “Yvonne just got home. She has no time for shopping yet.
He glanced at Yvonne and said in a gentle voice, “Got you some outfits for now. When you want to hit the mall, I’m all in.”
Yvonne was baffled, thinking. Doesn’t he check if I need stuff before buying? I got a hundred outfits, shoes, and bags from my folks yesterday. And now more? How am I gonna wear all this?”
“I think you like this brand a lot, Christopher pointed out, recalling her outfits, bags, and shoes,
Yvonne was at a loss for words. It was not because she liked them. She had to wear them–they were gifts from her parents. Plus she designed them. But Christopher didn’t know that, thinking it was her go–to brand.
“About yesterday… Yosef said, but Cherry nudged him and then switched gears. “Christopher, you’re so considerate. Yvonne’s not the only one who is moved. I’m touched, too. You’re the best.”
Yosef was puzzled why he got cut off about the gifts he’d sent his daughter.
Cherry, seeing the couple’s tight grip, was delighted. “Let’s not stand here. Come on in and sit
“Thank you,” Christopher said, leading Yvonne into the villa, hand in hand.
Only then did Yosef notice their clasped hands, feeling a mix of joy and a strange sadness–his girl was growing up fast. She was having a date.
Daniel was amazed Yvonne could play hardball, taking from her dad and now her boyfriend. That was sinister. Yosef was one thing, but Christopher was a bigwig. Daniel was impressed by how Yvonne got money from Christopher.
Samantha arrived just in time to hear Daniel say Christopher had prepared all this for Yvonne. She froze like she’d been struck by lightning, unable to believe it, staring at them.
‘How could this be? Christopher took Yvonne to see Matthew, dined with her, brought her home, and let her ride in his car no woman had ever sat in there. And he bought all these clothes, shoes, and bags for Yvonne. Plus, he’s holding her hand and getting into the villa as a guest, Samantha thought.
“Mary, what now?” Samantha was frantic. Yvonne’s cool attitude meant she hadn’t faced any trouble with Matthew,
Let’s go check it out?” Mary advised, feeling uneasy but unsure of what to do.
In the living room, Christopher was shooting the breeze with Yosef and Cherry, sneaking peeks at Yvonne and giving her little nods or smiles. Everyone caught on to his subtle moves.
Samantha was green with jealousy, especially seeing Christopher pay so much attention to Yvonne. Her jealousy was so intense that her nails loft imprints in her palm.

Then Cherry piped up, “Yvonne, is that a crown necklace you’re wearing?”
All eyes turned to Yvonne, whose necklace had caught everyone’s attention. Everyone was in awe, except Samantha, who was fuming.
“Did Matthew give you that?! Cherry asked.
“Yep, Yvonne said, keeping it short.
Christopher chimed in with a gentle smile, ‘Matthew’s really happy with Yvonne and asked her to pick him up from the hospital in a couple of days.”
Yosef and Cherry were thrilled to hear Matthew was so pleased with their girl. “Perfect. Let Yvonne know when Matthew’s getting out, and you two go get him, Cherry said, beaming,
Samantha was seething. She couldn’t figure out how Yvonne got the necklace so easily when she tried everything to win Matthew’s favor and failed. She was dying to know how Yvonne charmed Matthew in just a few hours.
After a bit. Christopher got up to leave, patting Yvonne on the head like she was a kid. “Get to bed early. Don’t stay up too
late.”
Yosef and Cherry had never seen Christopher so tender and were tickled pink to see how fast things were moving between him and Yvonne
Yvonne usually hated being touched, but today, Christopher kept breaking her rule.
I’m off now,” Christopher said, looking into her eyes, his voice soft. Tll call you when I get home.”
Samantha was blown away that they exchanged numbers so soon, and she was fuming inside.
“Okay,” Yvonne said. When everyone left, she went upstairs to shower.
Back in her room, Samantha wilted, only kept from collapsing by Mary. “Mary, what do I do?” she asked, feeling more defeated than ever.
“Ms. Lynch, Mary said, patting her.
“Christopher is all over my sister, What can I do to get his attention?” Samantha asked, her voice shaky.
“Don’t worry,” Mary said with a sly look in her eyes. “Her happiness won’t last.”
. On the drive home, Christopher asked Marty, “Any sign of Henry?”
“Not yet,” Marty replied, checking the rearview mirror. Understanding what he thought, Marty said, “Rumors are flying that the legendary doctor Henry is gone, but some folks think he’s just lying low. He’s like a ghost–hard to pin down. We’re always a step behind.”
Christopher knew Henry wouldn’t be easy to track if he was still out there
“Mr. Sanchez, should we ask Ms. Lynch to help?” Marty advised, matching Christopher’s gaze in the mirror. “She’s a brilliant doctor. Saved Matthew twice from the edge.
–“Grandma’s illness is a tough one,” Christopher said, not wanting to burden Yvonne. He didn’t want her to feel bad if she
couldn’t crack it. “Keep digging for Henry, Christopher ordered
“Yes, sir, Marty agreed with a nod
